Product Description

The Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver allows you to listen to a large range of sources. These include online streaming services as well as traditional vinyl and radio. Moreover, this unit is an all-in-one solution with a powerful built-in amplifier, just add speakers.

Yamaha has a long history of high-quality sound systems and R-N600A Network Receiver ticks all the boxes. The amplifier outputs 105 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms and it has many analogue and digital inputs. There is also a built-in DAB tuner and phono preamp.

Sixty years of Yamaha experience

Yamaha has a long history as an audio brand and utilizes a design concept known as ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology). This concept is used by the R-N600A Network Receiver.

The key is sonic purity, where they use the shortest signal path along with a lo-vibration chassis that is highly rigid. Moreover, they use a special resin frame to absorb and block interference and vibration. The result is sonic purity and dynamism in the music.

Exceptional connectivity

The connectivity, with the Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver is exceptional. There are four analogue line-level inputs as well as a built-in phono stage. There are also two optical and two coaxial digital inputs.

Also, the front-mounted USB socket allows local file playback. Bluetooth is built in so you can stream from your Smartphone or tablet. Additionally, WIFI is available and there is a wired Ethernet connector.

Two sets of speakers can be used and there is a subwoofer output. Lastly, the front panel has a digital display for track information and there is a headphone socket for personal listening.

High-quality ESS Sabre DAC chip

The Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver uses the quality Sabre ES9010K2M 384kHz 32-bit high-end DAC chip from ESS. This chipset has a superior signal-to-noise performance. The chipset works in conjunction with Yamaha's network module to draw out the best from high-resolution digital sound sources.

All of the musical nuances are preserved. Lastly, Yamaha has a pure direct system that bypasses all of the tone controls for the best possible sound. The unit has an ultra-precise clock and supports DSD 11.2 MHz playback as well as 384kHZ PCM playback.

Streaming and streaming services

Most people nowadays, stream music from a variety of providers. Including Spotify and Amazon Music HD. Moreover, some services offer high-resolution lossless music. The services are usually accessed via a smartphone app.

Streaming providers send music via the internet using files stored on remote servers. The music is sent via Bluetooth from a device usually a Smartphone or tablet.

The internet connection is provided by a WIFI connection when you are in a building. Outside, the internet connection will be via the mobile network.

DAB/DAB+ tuner

A DAB / DAB+ tuner is built into the Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver with this you can enjoy many broadcast radio stations. The tuning is automatic and you can store 40 pre-set stations.

DAB will eventually replace analogue FM. Notably, DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting and began in the 1990s. It was meant to replace analogue FM but so far only Norway has shut down the analogue service.

The UK is expected to continue analogue FM broadcasting until at least 2030. Notably, the Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver also has an FM receiver.

About Phono cartridges

As the Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver has a built-in phono stage a few words about phono cartridges are in order. There are actually two types of magnetic phono cartridges. Moving magnet and moving coil.

The most common is a moving magnet and the Yamaha R-N600A Network Receiver has an input suitable for this type. MM cartridges have an output of around 5mV. On the other hand moving coil cartridges offer better reproduction but require an additional preamp.
