Yamaha A-S3000 integrated stereo amplifier is Yamaha's flagship high fidelity amplifier, it represents sound highly accurately. The A-S3000 delivers exceptional sound clarity, whilst eliminating any signal loss, all together in an elegantly stylish design. Rigid Streamlined Construction

To achieve the accuracy when amplifying the signal, the A-S3000 uses a newly designed highly rigid double structure. The insulator and the chassis eliminate any external vibrations, and provide each circuit board with a floating structure which supports an independent internal frame.

Another source of internal vibration is the power source, but here it fixed firmly with a three-dimensional structured internal frame, which is held solid by the front and rear panel. The power amplifiers board and heat sink are attached to the left and right inner frames.

The design of the chassis manages to structurally isolate the power supply unit and amplifier circuits and consequently thoroughly blocks the transmission of any potential vibrations. Furthermore, the internal frame that the power transformer is supported on, is shaped in such a way as to allow for the wiring of each circuit to travel over the shortest route.

The design of the chassis with its cutting-edge structure lowers the length of the signal paths and reaches minimal impedance, provides rigidity and minimises vibration. The result of the amplifiers innovative design is significant reduction in signal degradation, which is rare for pure audio amplification.

Large Toroidal Transformer

The internal frame is independent and has been designed in order to provide a rigid solid mount for the toroidal transformer, which is in the centre of the A-S3000, resulting in an amplifier with a good balance.

The internal frame is copper-plated and convex shaped which is designed to be highly rigid and integrates the front to the back and the left to the right, and reduces vibrations from all directions

The power transformer is fitted on the internal frame and is brass, which was chosen as the material after listening tests revealed it to be the best choice of material. Brass reduces vibrations which are caused by the power transformer, and helps in creating a sound of great clarity and spaciousness.

Low Impedance Design

Yamaha have focused on low impedance throughout the A-S3000, which means the amplifier has a pure signal transmission path and is capable of reproducing even the most subtlest of nuances in music whilst being dynamically very powerful.

By utilising a three-dimensional construction design the amplifier has ample space for the cables underneath the chassis, which means the cables can travel the shortest route for the power supply and the audio signal paths.

Restricting the cables to the shortest route eliminates signal transmission loss and smoothes the power signal, even during intense transients, and results in pure audio reproduction. Plus, the internal frame is also copper plated.

Maintaining a low impedance is due to lowering the ground potential, which sharply reduces the impact of noise, and delivers a rich and emotive sound, as the original artist intended.

6mm Thick Top Panel

To eliminate and potential affects on the audio signal, both the top and bottom panels of this amplifier are constructed from aluminium, since as it is non-magnetic.  Furthermore, by closely examining the effects of sound quality by the size of the panels, it was found that the front panel thickness needs to be 7mm and the top panel, 6mm.

The fact that the chassis is highly rigid results in highly natural and spacious sound stage, whilst also minimising any potential unwanted vibrations. Furthermore, heat is dissipated via highly crafted precision cut openings on the top panel, showing Yamaha's attention to detail.

The stylish openings in the centre, match the companion CDS3000 and its design, which highlights the dynamic power unit inside by having the same width as the power transformer. The insulators, reduce external vibrations and Yamaha’s original metal legs can be used to maximise the control of vibrations. The user has the ability to choose whether they want to use the supplied spikes or they can opt for plane insulation, with the supplied pads or alternatively use an interlocking rack.

Symmetrical Design 

The design of the amplifier features independent pre-amplifier and power amplifier blocks, which maintains left-right symmetry. Therefore, by separating the pre-amplifier, which processes low energy signals, from the power amplifier, that processes high energy signals, the amplifier manages to reduce sound degradation which is caused by the mutual interference of the pre and power amplifiers.

Furthermore, by keeping the left and right power stages separate with a left-right symmetrical design, ensures even greater channel separation and an increase in clarity of the stereo imagery.

Direct Drawing Transformer

The cabling of the power transformer utilises an ingenious method in order to significantly reduce the signal impedance. The transformer coiling is in direct contact with the terminals via a screw which is not typicle of cabling.

The transformer cabling is designed in order to reduce impedance; the transformer itself is directly connected to the terminal by a screw, which is different to conventional cabling. The design enables a power supply which limits connection loss, which is caused if solder is used.

The toroidal transformer was chosen, by virtue of its effect on sound quality, which gives a strong yet natural and spacious sound.

Secure Screw Connections

To reduce signal loss certain parts of the circuitry are attached with screws for the for the crucial parts of signal transmission, this includes pre-amp circuit, the power amplifier circuit, and the cabling to the loudspeaker terminals power amp. By ensuring the signal paths are as short as possible, the impedance is lowered, and signal loss is greatly reduced.

Electronic Volume Control

The volume control is very high quality, being specifically designed by the New Japan Radio Company for Yamaha, with a ladder-type resistance, which removes the impact of slew rate decline or discolouring the sound, resulting in highly clean signal, and fast transient response rates.

The phono amplifier is contains a MC headphone amplifier and an equalisation amplifier, both discretely configured, which results in a sound with depth, when playing records with both a MC or MM cartridges.

Exquisite Large Level Meters

The A-S3000 display features large line level meters which highlight the dynamics of the music you are listening to. These meters are illuminated softly with LED lights, resulting in a warm, lamp-light effect. The meter indicators can be adjusted, they can be switched to peak display, according to your preference.

The glass panels covering the meters are precision cut on a diagonal and fitted to the back part of the front panel, to give a seamless finish on the front panel.

Meticulously Designed

The A-S3000 shows Yamaha's history of being a producer of fine musical instrument, their are no screws or fasteners visible, on the front of the amplifier. Every aspect of this amplifiers construction and design exudes masterful craftsmanship and quality, reflecting Yamaha's obsession with quality.

The amplifier has a highly refined design and finished by the skillled use of advanced precision technniques, such as the integration of the top panel and side wood connections leaving no space between the differing materials.

Original Speaker Terminals

The speaker terminals, have also been designed with meticulous obsession; they are screw-type terminals with large ergonomic handles from an original design, which utilises pure brass and cutting it out, which ensures secure connections without a significant reduction in audio quality.

Furthermore, the speakers terminals are designed ergonomically to fit nicely in the fingers, which results in an elegant terminal, but also allows the users to turn them with ease and fix them with minimal force.

Obsessive, Meticulous Switch Design 

For the controls that the listener will interact with directly are designed with a surface texture and are cut from aluminium to result in a rich and elegant feeling

The switches, are made with an obsessive attention to the detail and texture; and they were crafted so well that when they are raised or lowered, the space between the switch and panel surface is non existent.

The remote control has a complementary look to the aluminium panel of the amplifier, with its simple, and easy to understand layout and metallic surface texture. The basic volume control and the input switch controls of the A-S3000, can also be used to operate the companion CD-S3000.
