Product Description
The WiiM Ultra Streamer and DAC is designed to be the centre of a digital audio system. It has a good range of inputs including connections for a turntable. It can also be connected to your TV via eARC. A premium design feature is the new 3.5” colour touchscreen and aluminium case. However, the biggest upgrades are on the inside.
There is a new ESS Sabre DAC chip and a newly developed main board. Notably, there is no power amplifier on board. The unit has RCA outputs for feeding to a separate amplifier or active speakers. Streaming connectivity is good with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a wired Ethernet connector.
Superb connectivity
Connectivity is good with the WiiM Ultra Streamer and DAC. You can connect a line-level analogue source to the RCA inputs. There is also a provision for an MM turntable. Digital inputs include an optical input as well as USB type A. Outputs feature two standard RCA connectors and there is an output for a subwoofer.
Lastly, you can connect TV sound via eARC. eARC is an HDMI format that allows you to connect your TV sound to the streamer unit. The TV remote control can then be used to control the overall volume.
Premium casing
The compact and quality casing is made of aluminium. This acts as a good shield for the internal electronics. Moreover, the new 3.5-inch full-colour touchscreen makes using the unit easy. You can play sources such as a NAS drive or CD player. The design matches the WiiM amplifier.
Premium DAC
The WiiM Ultra Streamer and DAC have an upgraded ESS Sabre DAC chip and a new main board. The DAC is capable of hi-res streaming at 32-bit/384kHz as well as DSD512. Audiophile-grade components are used and you can stream via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There is also a wired Ethernet connection. Streaming services include Chromecast as well as Spotify Connect. Lastly, there is onboard room correction and smart home integration.
What is a streamer?
A streamer, such as the WiiM Ultra Streamer and DAC, is used in modern audio systems and acts as a hub for your audio components.
