Product Description
Wharfedale EVO 4.S surround speakers are designed to deliver accurate and detailed sound to the rear and side channels for your surround sound system. The EVO4.s, like the rest of the EVO 4 range, it is packed full of wharfedale’s impressive audio technology and design features taken from their flagship Elysian range.
EVO 4 Range
Wharfedale’s EVO4 range is the successor from the best selling EVO range that came before it, improving it with features that have trickled down from, and have been inspired by, Wharfedale’s high end, flagship, Elysian range.
AMT Technology
The main feature installed in the EVO4 range is the AMT technology, which came from the Elysian Range. This piece of audio technology changes the way high frequencies are produced, ultimately making the highs more accurate and detailed, which is more efficient compared to the conventional dome tweeter.
AMT, which stands for Air Motion Transformer, works by using a large, pleated lightweight diaphragm that is driven across its surface by rows of strategically placed magnets, which also achieves extremely low distortion.
Wide Bandwidth Dome Midrange
To match to the AMT tweeter, the Evo 4.s has a fast and responsive dome midrange, with a wide bandwidth from 800Hz to 5kHz, which is achieved with use of a damped rear chamber. This performance is extremely impressive considering it’s compact size, and together with the AMT tweeter, you’ll be able to hear all the musical detail no matter where you sit.
Cabinet Design
The cabinet design again has been inspired by the Elysian range, in which it is designed to provide a stable and solid foundation for the drive units. With slightly curved edges the driver’s output can be better integrated with the room’s acoustics. As a surround sound speaker this cabinet shape also helps the Evo4.s blend in the furniture.
SLPP Bass Reflex System
The EVO 4.S uses a unique design feature called the SLPP bass reflex system, which is another feature that has come from the Elysian range. The SLPP bass reflex system uses a low distortion motor system paired with a woven Kevlar cone, which is fitted with a low loss rubber surround, to achieve a wide bandwidth, powerful bass and loads of detail.
