Tape types
There are four types of cassette tape, Type I ferric, Type II chrome, Type III Ferro-Chrome, and Type IV metal. The most common type of tape still manufactured is ferric. The We Are Rewind Portable Cassette Player Amy Ltd Edition is designed to record on ferric tape although it can play back any type of tape.
Type II chrome tape has a higher frequency response, while Ferro-chrome tape was a short-lived experiment. Metal tape provides the best possible quality but is not made at present. It is also very expensive on the second-hand market.
