Product Description
The Technics SL-1300G Turntable is a high-end unit with advanced Delta Sigma motor drive technology. This delivers rock-steady speed and low vibration. There is also a three-layer platter and a highly rigid chassis.
The motor drive ensures a highly accurate speed with low vibration. Additionally, the three-layer platter has a high mass and good damping characteristics. The base has two layers for great rigidity and the power supply is carefully designed to be silent.
Lastly, precision engineering, with the tonearm, provides a low-mass easy-to-move assembly that provides accurate tracking.
Coreless direct drive motor for smooth rotation
The motor design of the Technics SL-1300G Turntable needs no iron core. As a result uneven rotation is reduced. This is known as cogging and can be a problem with direct-drive motors. Cogging is further reduced by using a twin-rotor construction that reduces the load on the bearing and creates a high torque. This has the effect of reducing minute variations. Additionally, the motor base is reinforced to further reduce vibration.
Delta Sigma Drive for accurate sound
Another feature of the Technics SL-1300G Turntable is the Delta Sigma motor drive. This technics-developed PWM system ensures an accurate rotational speed and lowered harmonics. The result is a smooth and accurate sound. Errors in the drive signals to the motor are reduced. This prevents any modulation of the audio signal that can muddy the sound.
Three-layer platter for low vibration.
Turntable platters need to have a high mass to reduce speed variations as well as good damping to prevent interference with playback. To achieve this the Technics SL-1300G Turntable platter is made of a layer of brass combined with die-cast aluminium. Moreover, the three-layer design has a rubber backing to improve damping. This eliminates any resonance and provides a stable surface for the record.
Two-layered base Construction
The Technics SL-1300G Turntable base features a two-layer construction that securely holds the motor and platter assemblies. Reinforcing ribs add to the rigidity and as a result, vibration performance and damping are improved. Moreover, each turntable is balanced to ensure there is no platter wobble. Balance is adjusted at the factory with a high-precision balance measuring jig.
Multi-stage silent power supply
Switch mode power supplies are efficient but can inject noise into a system. As a result, Technics goes to great lengths to ensure a clean power supply feed with the SL-1300G Turntable. Switching supplies eliminates the need for a large transformer. However, to reduce inference the switching frequency is well above the hearing range, at 100khz. To reduce noise even more a noise detection circuit detects any noise and uses an inverse signal to cancel it out. As a result, the PSU output is very clean and stable.
Tonearm with low mass for good tracking
The tonearm fitted to the Technics SL-1300G Turntable is very precisely engineered. As a result, it offers little resistance when tracking the groove. The precision gimbal bearing is very free-moving. additionally, the aluminium, S-shaped arm tracks the groove accurately and can be fitted with a variety of cartridges including low-mass MC types.
