The Tivoli Model Two Digital Wireless Streaming Speaker is a compact but powerful streaming speaker. It is only 25cm wide but has an output power of 20 Watts. There is an 8.89cm full-range driver along with a 1.9cm tweeter. Get Tivoli quality sound from the built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google Chrome Cast, and Airplay 2. Moreover, the real wood cabinet features aluminium grills and a dual-orientation design.
Powerful Class D amplifier
The powerful class D amplifier in the Tivoli Model Two Digital Wireless Streaming Speaker has an output of 20 Watts and drives an 8.89 cm full-range driver along with a 1.9cm tweeter. This provides a frequency response of 60 Hz to 20kHz. The quality wooden cabinet also features a rear-firing bass port to boost the bass. There is also an aluminium grill and a dual-orientation design.
What is Class D?
Most powered speakers nowadays use Class D amplifiers. Class D is more efficient than Class A or B which are traditionally used for linear amplifiers. In fact, Class D can be up to 90% efficient. It also generates less heat which is an advantage in an enclosed space. Class D works by using a stream of high-frequency pulses to generate the audio. This is Pulse Width modulated (PWM). The closer together the pulses are the higher the output.
Wi-fi and Bluetooth
As well as built-in streaming capability such as Google Chrome Cast and Airplay 2 you can connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Bluetooth is intended to connect to mobile devices. Alternatively, Wi-Fi will connect to your home network. There is also an aux input for legacy devices.
What is a streaming speaker?
A streaming speaker is essentially an amplifier and speaker in the same enclosure. However, what sets them apart is how they connect to music sources. There are various online streaming services available depending on the device, for example, Airplay 2 is intended for Apple devices. Whereas Google Chromecast is more Android-oriented.
Both of these are built into the Tivoli Model Two Digital Wireless Streaming Speaker, for ease of use. Additionally, you can connect via Bluetooth. This allows you to use your phone to stream directly. Wi-FI is also built in so the speaker will appear as a device on your home network.
