Product Description
Technics SL-G700M2e CD and SACD player with streamer is designed to allow you to enjoy several streaming sources as well as your existing CD and SACD collection.
The high quality construction is split into four parts - the power supply, digital circuits, analogue circuits and the CD drive. There is also a three stage sound processing unit. These are designed to provide the best possible sound quality.
Connectivity is also good with a balanced output as well as standard RCAs. You can also stream via the built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. MQA playback is also supported.
High precision coherent DAC
With the SL-G700M2em, a three stage process is used to convert the incoming audio data back into music. The first is a coherent processing unit. Coherent refers to the fact that it presents a coherent signal to the DAC. In other words, there is a multiplicity of sampling rates and formats, that need to be converted to something suitable for the DACs input. That is the function of the first stage.
Next is the DAC itself. In fact, there is a DAC used for each channel in a dual mono configuration. This reduces any chance of crosstalk and is designed to provide the best possible sound quality. The final stage consists of an amplifier made of discrete components. This gives low noise performance as well as excellent detail in the sound.
Multi-stage power supply
The power supply of the SL-G700M2e has three stages, the first is a switch mode unit that works at 300kHz. This is a higher frequency than usual and helps to move any harmonics outside of the audible range. The result is less noise in the supply.
The second is a low noise regulator that sets the output voltage. There is also a current injection active noise cancelling circuit. This works like a balanced audio circuit by mixing the positive and negative voltages together so that any noise is cancelled out. The result is a very clean power supply.
Connectivity
Connectivity is good with both balanced and RCA outputs provided. There is also a digital optical and coaxial output, for an external DAC. There is a digital and coaxial input as well as a USB connection to connect to an external hard drive or computer. There is also a front mounted USB socket. A wired ethernet port is available and Wi-Fi is built in. Bluetooth is also included. As a result you can stream most of the popular streaming services, such as Spotify.
Excellent build quality
The SL-G700M2e has a four section build. The first is the power supply. This is well shielded inside its own enclosure. Next comes the digital interface which also has its own PCB and shielding. Thirdly, the analogue circuits are also kept separate, with their own PCB. The result is no mutual interference and a clean sound. Finally, the disc mechanism has three layers. This reduces vibration. The tray is made of die-cast aluminium for durability and long life. To aid with shielding, the case is made of 3mm thick aluminium, with a 7mm thick front panel.
Pure Disc Playback
Super Audio CD (SACD) playback is supported. This uses the DSD encoding method. DSD stands for Direct Stream Digital and has a much higher sampling rate than normal CDs. In fact, the SL-G700M2e has a ‘Pure Disc Playback’ mode that takes some of the digital processing out of the circuit, for DSD signals. This gives the best possible sound quality. Perhaps the ultimate in audio performance is provided by MQA recordings. MQA stands for Master Quality Audio and gives playback that is the closest to the master recordings. Most other file formats are supported including, WAV and FLAC. Hi-Res formats can also be played via USB or streaming. Finally, the fully featured display will let you know what is being played, and the file format in use.
