TEAC NT-505-X USB DAC and network player streamer has built upon its predecessor featuring, the new ES9038 Q2M high-performance DAC, 7 types of PCM filters, an improved TEAC-HCLD2 enhanced-current output buffer amp circuit, and a beautiful Semi-floating design Top Panel and newly-developed “Stressless Foot” design with three support points.

ESS Technology ES9038 Q2M high-performance DAC supports resolutions up to 22.5MHz DSD and 768kHz/32bit PCM

TEAC NT-505-X has a single DAC chip in each of the stereo channels and uses ESS Technology ES9038Q2M SABRE32 Reference DAC that has a strong reputation within the HiFi market. The NT-505-X realises an outstanding dynamic range by using a 32-bit HyperStream II DAC architecture and a Time Domain Jitter Eliminator. This creates clear and accurate audio playback with expert dynamic characteristics.

Dual monaural circuit design and fully-balanced design

Within the NT-505-X, each element is configured for single-channel processing and uses a dual monaural circuit configuration throughout. By utilising these features the NT-505-X prevents mutual interference while reproducing a full dynamic sound. Additional, S/N ratio and dynamic range are improved by both left and right Analog channels being processed in full balanced mode soon after the D/A converters and all the way to the output terminal. This allows the NT-505-X to process Hi-Res formats that produce a convincing soundstage without any losses.

Support for popular and convenient network functions, including OpenHome and Roon Ready

The NT-505-X can be used with OpenHome and other control apps such as TEAC HR Streamer to control the NT-505-X and your playlists. Additionally, Roon Ready is also supported with functions provided by RAAT (Roon Advanced Audio Transport) and multi-room synchronized playback can be used without limits.

Supports Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz, and TuneIn

TEAC NT-505-X USB DAC and Network Player Streamer can be connected to a home network using a LAN cable allowing the user to access music files, NAS music servers, and computers. Additionally, the NT-505-X supports Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz which enables the user to listen to tens of millions of lossless CD-quality (44.1kHz/16bit) music tracks.

MQA decoder for master quality streaming

The NT-505-X supports MQA decoding which allows the unit to achieve an Analog waveform as close to the original as possible, additionally, the NT-505-X supports high sampling rate formats like DSD512 (22.5MHz) and PCM 32bit/768kHz. The NT-505-X’s MQA decoder is a new technology that controls the Analog waveform with audiophile-level precision and reproduces sound in a manner that is as close to human hearing as possible. Moreover, the unit’s highly efficient compression algorithm allows you to listen to huge Hi-Res audio files regardless of your internet speed.

High-quality wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth

The NT-505-X onboard clock is a high-precision, audio-grade, low phase-noise crystal oscillator for USB asynchronous transfer mode instead of a noise PC clock. Installed with two onboard clocks specifically for the 44.1kHz and 48kHz sampling frequencies and applies the appropriate one to incoming digital signals that reproduce identical sound to the original by eliminating jitter effects on the audio signal. Finally, an external 10MHz clock is provided that synchronizes with an even higher-precision master clock generator, the TEAC CG-10M/CG-10M-A.

Up-conversion up to 384kHz/32bit PCM and 24.5MHz DSD

The NT-505-X uses RDOT-NEO (Refined Digital Output Technology NEO) which is a fluency algorithm that renders digital audio signals smoothly and then the unit up-converts PCM digital signals up to 384kHz/32bit PCM and 24.5MHz DSD.

"Bulk Pet" USB transfer technology for enhanced audio quality

The NT-505-X stabilises data transmission of audio sources through USB cables using TEAC’s “Bulk Pet” transmission technology. Bulk pet transmits a fixed amount of data constantly which levels out the processing burden which the NT-505-X and a computer are transitioning data. Furthermore, changing the processing burden can directly affect audio quality so ushered can select the setting they prefer.

The volume circuit used for the NT-505-X is the TEAC-QVCS (Quad Volume Control System), this electronic volume control is a variable gain amp type made up of four discrete circuits. These circuits solve issues with noise resulting from diverging wiring by placing the variable gain amp volume control in the audio signal path on the circuit board. Additionally, the TEAC-QVCS enables volume adjustment in 0.5dB increments allowing you to set the perfect volume.

Carefully crafted line amp section can also be used as a headphone amplifier

The TEAC-HCLD2 circuit has been improved in NT-505-X, which has a high drive capability as a headphone amp enabling it to bring out the best in all types of headphones beginning at 600omb high-impedance models. Additionally, the NT-505-X supports Ground Separate connection by separating circuit ground on both Left and Right channels that lead from the amplifier to the headphone jack which is crucial for headphone listening as it improves channel separation and delivers clear sound stage.

 All-metal enclosure and Newly-developed Stressless Foot design

The NT-505-X’s a4 sized body is made from vibration-resistant and stylish metal. The metal panels are resistant to external noise and intrusion of electromagnetic noise generated by computer devices. Furthermore, the unit 8mm-thick aluminum panels that cover both sides provide a strong and stable structure that is rigid and prevents bending.

The NT-505-X features TEAC’s newly developed Stressless Foot design with three support point configurations enables stable placement of the unit which reduces the impact of any alight irregularities in the surface beneath. These feet are only partially fixed to the chassis which allows them to vibrate more freely so allowing more natural sound reverberations to be achieved. This new design allows for more rich, natural reverberations.
