Product Description
TEAC AX-505 Integrated Amplifier features a cool-running and energy-efficient TEAC- tuned Ncore module by Hypex for clear reproduction of HD audio as well as high quality headphone listening with support for ‘ground separate’ connection.
Combine with TEAC's latest standalone UD-505 DAC or NT-505 USB DAC/Network Player for all the benefits of high-spec, Hi-Res audio, such as DSD512 and PCM 768kHz content.
Ncore power amp by Hypex
The AX-505 is centred around a high-performance, energy-efficient Hypex Ncore power amplifier which delivers 115W+ 115W of output power from a compact unit. This isn’t a typical Ncore module as it is carefully tuned by TEAC for maximum musical expression from the entire spectrum of musical repertoire.
XLR balanced inputs
Equipped with a pair of XLR balanced analogue audio inputs, AX-505 is designed to minimise external noise from the interconnect cable. From fundamental MUSE op-amps to ladder-resistor volume controls, TEAC meticulously selected key components from ‘made for hi-fi’ ranges.
CCLC headphone amp circuit
AX-505 has a 4-pole headphone output jack supporting ‘ground-separate’ connection for exceptional channel separation throughout headphone listening. The CCLC (Coupling Capacitor-less Circuit) circuit design removes coupling condensers in the output stage reducing colouration during processing for more authentic audio.
Toroidal-core transformer
In the power supply, AX-505 utilises a top capacity toroidal-core power transformer plus Schottky barrier diodes in the rectifying circuit for cleaner and more stable current and reduction of rectifier noise in each part of the amplifier’s circuitry.
Silent operation
TEAC engineers created AX-505’s circuit and cabinet design in a layout that enables natural removal of heat so the compact powerful amp doesn’t require a cooling fan.
Full-metal body
The front panel, top and sides are firmly attached to the robust steel inner chassis showcasing high standard of construction which helps reduce mechanical vibration. A compact design with an A4-sized footprint, the AX-505 fits comfortably into even the most limited of modern spaces.
Maximum versatility
On the rear, connectors have a wide pitch between them enabling use of interconnects with bulky plugs. Three set of RCA analogue inputs contribute to a fullscale hi-fi system, even if you start off with a relatively minimalist desktop PC audio set-up. A set of wide-pitch, diagonally offset screw-type speaker terminals accommodate easy wiring of high quality AWG8 gauge cables and banana plugs.
User-friendly interface
For a more tactile response, AX-505 uses a machined aluminum knob for precise volume control, while a classic toggle switches the amplifier on and off. The remote control, topped with a luxurious aluminum cover, allows you to adjust volume in 0.5dB steps at moderate volumes.
Dual level meters
A pair of level meters add a visual dimension while enhancing the aesthetic appeal. A 4-step dimmer can disable the meters or emphasise movement in tune with personal preference.

I've owned the AX-501-B for little more than a year, paired via XLR connections to TEAC's UD-301 DAC. The AX-501 has a very neutral sound paired with my Martin Logan Motion 40 floorstanding speakers. I also have an Audio Technica phono and TEAC AD-850 combo CD/Cassette. Great sound balance, visually appealing and nice feel to the controls. I would definately recommend to those looking for a amp you can place right next to your computer.
