Streaming - Devialet - Roon Labs
Streaming music has rapidly become a very popular choice for music lovers as part of a good sounding hi-fi system, thanks to huge improvements in streaming sound quality and the wealth of music available. The term "streaming" basically refers to the fact that you're playing music from a digital device stored elsewhere - be it your NAS drive (which can store your CD collection, high res files and other music), from online services (Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, or the thousands of internet radio stations available), or from files stored your Mac or PC (iTunes or Media Player). Even if you have a large vinyl collections, you can "rip" these onto your Mac or PC for easy access at the touch of a button.
Devialet delivers music with the sound clarity you'd expect of a world leader. The brand has quickly become a reference point for sound quality with the high end Expert amplifier range and Phantom range of wireless connected speakers.
Devialet, formed in 2007, was led to worldwide success by the trio of engineer Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, visionary entrepreneur Quentin Sannié and designer Emmanuel Nardin. In 2015, Devialet launched Phantom, a wireless speaker recognised by industry specialists as revolutionary in audio technology and widely regarded as the top-connected active speaker on the market.
Devialet’s proprietary and revolutionary ADH technology has transformed amplification forever, enabling a highly effective matching of digital and analog designs for emission of the perfect sound - a more powerful, more distinct and more immersive sound, with no distortion whatsoever. Take the Devialet Phantom test, and play the Phantom’s loud and you will not hear the drivers distort!
ADH is considered one of the most significant audio developments the industry has witnessed in the past 40 years, and it why Devialet was formed. In addition, SAM (Speaker Active Matching) is Devialet’s second technological revolution allowing Devialet systems to be adaptable, so whatever loudspeaker the system has, the amplifier can a adapt the signal as a function of the frequency response of the loudspeakers, an important feature of Devialet’s Expert range.
Additionally, Devialet's "Heart Bass Implosion" technology has been designed specifically for the Phantom range. HBI enables your speaker to operate at a level above ‘normal’ by transmitting ultra-dense audio thanks to lateral beats beneath super high pressure.
At present, the Phantom and Expert ranges have been awarded more 60 times and are over 100 individual patents protecting them. From the groundbreaking design of Experts and Phantom to the artistic ballet of their robotic production lines, Devialet see art as adding meaning to technology.
Phantom Reactor personifies the progress Devialet constantly strives for. This non-stop labour to enhance and compress Devialet technologies means they are now able to offer this in the most compact format achievable.
Devialet aims to provide the world with great products, technology and experience; to be the greatest company the audio industry has ever known. The mission is to make Devialet technology universal.
The name Devialet name is derived from Sieur de Vialet, a fellow of the philosophers Diderot and D’Alembert, who believed that technology with science, contributes to the overall happiness of humanity. The collective goal is what unites and pushes them past limits that are currently possible.
When you purchase a Devialet product, in addition to owning the best-connected speaker in the world, you also have reassurance of free future upgrades via the EVO Platform. When setting up, the Phantoms will continue to upgrade themselves for free, so its internal connections evolve, and continually improve. We have all Devialet Phantom models on demo in our hi-fi showroom, so you can take the Devialet test and be sonically amazed.
Roon Nucleus music servers are a central hub for your music, allowing you to stream your music to Roon network players (Sonos, Devialet, KEF LS50 Wireless, Meridian etc) to fully enjoy stored music, and control it from the Roon app.
Roon Labs was founded by the team responsible for the award-winning Sooloos system, Roon Lab’s aims to provide the listener with the richest and most engaging interaction with your music. Using a Roon Labs server opens up the composition, performance and recording of your music.
The start of these innovative products was in the late 1990’s, when an A&R representative, a record-label owner and a software developer got together with the problem of easily accessing their large music collections. The trio proposed a computer-based platform to that would be able to store and organise a music library giving music lovers the ability to explore their collections in a simple manner.
Nine years after the trio proposed a central database solution to music collections, they conceptualised a music server called Sooloos which was launched in 2008. Sooloos demonstrated the power of computers for accessing music. Meridian Audio subsequently bought Sooloos and two of its original founders remain to continue with product development.
In 2015, the companies agreed that the software developer behind the Sooloos needed to be spun off into a separate company which became known as Roon Labs, with the aim to bring to market software for managing and accessing a music library on any Mac or Windows PC.
The Roon software, expands the Sooloos experience, making it universally available to anyone with a computer. Roon software works by recognising devices and ports them audio which is enhanced for their individual capabilities. The central devices from Roon are the servers from their partners, including a Roon Server pre-installed or available as an option that is installable. With these products, you will be able to enjoy Roon without a PC or Mac.
