Product Description
Benfitting from 79 years in the trade, Quad's S series combine advanced Kevlar-coned bass and midrange drivers with a specially formed ribbon tweeter that delivers expresses audio seamlessly, capturing all the minute details along with the passion of the original performance. The two-way Quad SC Centre Speakers incorporate a pair of 100mm bass and mid drivers and support a bespoke ribbon treble unit for effortlessly extended high frequencies that are audibly superior to typical dome tweeters.
Powerful Magnetic Field
With a robust sandwich construction built to handle high-powered amplifiers, the ribbon in the centre speaker is fully immersed in a powerful magnetic field allowing it to flourish as both voice coil and the sound radiator.
Smooth Sound Spectrum
On top of delivering exceptional transient response and remarkable music detail, the sound is smooth right up to the highest overtones even beyond our hearing capability. This sound quality is maintained, via controlled directivity, over a broad horizontal arc to accomodate all listeners while vertical dispersion is tailored to avoid floor and ceiling reflections. Results are the purest high frequency performance at the listening seat.
Reduced Resonance Design
Presented with sleek rounded top edges, each cabinet is constructed from alternate layers of MDF and high-density particleboard to reduce panel resonance to below the level of audibility.
Closest Approach To The Original Sound
Peter Comeau, Director of Acoustic Design at Quad’s parent company IAG, said: “S Series speakers are fashioned to reveal all the delightful inner detail of whatever style of music is played through them, yet exhibit a full and dynamic performance... that exemplifies Quad’s dictum of ‘The Closest Approach To The Original Sound’.”
