Product Description
Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3 B phono stage includes balanced and traditional unbalanced inputs, and sits above the S3 B model.
Always Balanced and Poised
The DS3 B takes full advantage of the 5 pin mini XLR balanced input which allows your turntable to extract the very best from your vinyl which is married together to be delivered as two symmetrical signals on the XLR outputs without any excess noise to allow for a quality of sound unheard of from a phono stage at this price point.
Making Gains
The circuitry of the DS3 B is one a fully discrete nature, meaning every part is individual in design allowing for a superior sound to some of the best Op-Amps out there in the field today, with the DS3 B fighting at the top to claim the crown thanks to the thousands of individual parts that make the whole phono stage.
Keeping It Equal-ized
Pro-Ject brings RIAA equalisation over to the DS3 B via a passive EQ which treats the balanced XLR input with meticulous attention to detail allowing for a precise and composed response that gives your turntables a chance to take the spotlight without them losing out to excess noise and degradation of sound.
It's a Top-Loader
With the DS3 B, you can connect up to two turntables in perfect harmony and be able to commit the settings of them to system memory without having to worry about anything, which again allows you to focus on the real matter at hand – the listening to that crisp vinyl.
Superior Sound
The DS3 B allows for a wider spectrum of sound than before with 40dB up to 65dB being attainable, which alone is a marvel of design which has been made possible thanks to the balanced input, which can be combined with the Pro-Ject invented potentiometer that allows you to set the impedance whilst playing back to dial your turntable cartridges into how you want them to sound.
All Power – No Compromise
Power to the DS3 B is via an external power supply which is designed to be away from the unit to remove the option of any electro-magnetic interference which would invariably affect your listening experience. You can always upgrade the power supply to a higher spec one to improve what is already a superb performance.

In my set up, which consists of a Naim Uniti Star, Bowers and Wilkins 705SE's and an Avid Ingenium turntable, it sounds excellent. I had an Avid Pellar on demo for a number of months that seemed to over exaggerate low frequencies. The Pro-Ject is much more open and detailed. I'm not suggesting that the Pellar is inferior, just that the Pro-Ject suits my system and is considerably cheaper too.
