Pear Audio

Pear Audio Analogue is passionately committed to hand-crafting fine solutions for the playback of recorded music. With the goal at all stages of design and production being to capture music, every aspect from component size and shape to materials selected serve the music.

Founder, Peter Mezek has been involved with music, hi-fi kit and turntables professionally for almost 40 years. His passion has always been for Analogue turntables from the renowned Linn LP12 to the Well Tempered turntables, both of which he distributed for many years.

In 1985, Peter launched his first product designed by Jiri Janda; the Rational Audio TT featuring a very well-received parallel tracking tonearm. The turntable was manufactured in Czechoslovakia exclusively and hosted many interesting and innovative technical solutions.

Peter Mezek handled countless turntables from top manufacturers since the 80s discovering key design concepts and understanding the impacts of minute improvements or tweaks on the performance of a turntable. Tom Fletcher's approach to turntable design influenced Peter the most as they revealed layers in the music that other decks could not with great musicality and realism.

Following the sale of the Well Tempered brand, Tom Fletcher designed and constructed a turntable for Peter which established Pear Audio Blue. It was produced at the old Nottingham Analogue factory. This close partnership imbued the brand with Tom Fletcher's design secrets and technology and he passed the torch to Peter to preserve and build upon his ideology.

The newest generation of Pear Audio Blue is the successful accumulation of Tom’s continuing production of turntables and tonearms. Each model is hand-crafted by Peter Mezek in Slovenia and endures an extensive quality control process before leaving the artisan shop.

Every detail down to the type of rubber used in the feet is tested for resonance properties and then listened to by trained ears. The turntable and tonearm design follow a key concept to achieve a remarkable pairing of materials which together are able to maintain the proper phase of energy throughout the system.

No frequency is overly diminished, damped or amplified. Every particle of energy is meticulously regulated across the spectrum from the motor to the tonearm and in the stylus driven by the record grooves. Pear Audio turntables may appear simplisitic in aesthetics but they undoubtedly host unbeatable smart engineering skill within.
