Technics hi-fi range features a selection of excellent direct drive turntables and beautiful hi-fi separates with a nod to vintage design including integrated amplifiers and streamer/CD players.
Technics have been innovators since their founding in 1965. In the early 1970’s they introduced an auto reverse cassette deck as well as a three head cassette deck. Innovations for the time. The mid 1980’s saw the introduction of the Class AA amplifier series. This was essentially a variation of class A/B.
They were originally a brand name of Panasonic, before the name was discontinued in 2010. In 2014 the brand was relaunched and in 2016 the the SL 1200 turntable was reintroduced. This well regarded turntable had been in production from 1972, until 2010. That was due to renewed interest in high-end audio, as well as a reassurance of vinyl. This is a dual speed turntable with a pitch control and strobe. It is available in various build qualities and colour combinations. A series of amplifiers, speakers and micro hi-fi systems followed.
Technics today, also have a heavy focus on digital products. Technics claim that modern amplifier designs can eliminate noise and distortion, something not as possible with linear amplifiers. Moreover, technology such as the coaxial speaker concept and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), optimises the amplifier to speaker connection. This makes the speakers as audibly transparent as possible.
The modern range is split into classes. The Reference class, The Grand Class and the Premium Class. The Reference class is the flagship range, and has the three-speed SL-1000R turntable, within it. This is a top-of-the-line product with a separate control unit and PSU. There is also a power amplifier and network player. Moreover, a range of headphones and earphones are available. Technics have also returned to their roots with a series of DJ versions of the SL1200 turntable. These have a torque and brake speed adjustment as well as reverse play.
