Billy Woodman founded ATC in 1974, with the original idea to produce custom drivers for the professional loudspeaker market, and quickly made a mark with the 12 PA75-314 driver design capable of more power and less distortion at a higher sound pressure level than its rivals. The brand can count Pink Floyd and Supertramp among their early customers. The groundbreaking SM 75-150s Soft Dome Driver arrived in 1976, which quickly became recognised as the flagship mid-range transducer. Over the next decade ATC introduced complete speaker systems, refining the sound with each successive design.
