Room correction, unleash your speaker’s potential
To get the best out of a home cinema system the shape and furnishing of a room need to be taken into account. The room can cause phase differences between speakers and reduce the sound quality. As a result high-end AV receivers such as the Onkyo TX-RZ70 AV Receiver, use the Dirac Live, Room Correction System.
This features a microphone that actively monitors the sound at the listening position and corrects for any anomalies caused by furniture and the room itself. The sound is then always optimized.

About Home cinema numbering
Home cinema systems use a numbering system to indicate the number and type of speakers used. For example, a 9.2 system is made up of nine main speakers and two subwoofers. However, more complex systems using Dolby Atmos or DTX use a different numbering pattern.
A 7.2.4 setup would have seven main speakers two subwoofers and four ceiling speakers. However, most AV receivers also allow for making a simpler 5.1 system. This would have a front left and right pair of speakers and a centre dialogue speaker. There are also two rear surround speakers and only one subwoofer.
