Product Description
The Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver is the best value receiver in the Premium RZ series. It can be used to make a 9.2 home cinema system and provides 120 watts of power per channel into 8 Ohms. Advanced engineering was used to develop the unit and only the best components were used.
Also, individual circuits are well isolated from one another. This reduces interference and enhances clarity. Additionally, signal paths are kept as short as possible to reduce noise pickup further. The receiver is well equipped with a built-in phono stage as well as an AM/FM tuner. Lastly, the DIRAC LIVE system optimizes the sound in the room.
Room correction, unleash your speaker’s potential
The shape of a room and its furnishings can seriously affect the sound of a home cinema system. As a result, the Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver is fitted with the Dirac Live Room Correction system. The sound is improved across the whole audio band. Dirac Live uses an included microphone or your smartphone to monitor the sound live. The sound is then actively equalized to optimize it at your listening position.
HDMI up to 8K
The Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver has six 8K capable HDMI 2.1 inputs. HDMI 2.1 is the latest version and supports eARC and 8K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps. It also has support for the latest Dynamic HDR formats. 8k delivers a more immersive experience with 4 times as many pixels as 4K. eARC allows you to control the volume of the unit using your TV remote control.
Connectivity
Starting with the video inputs, the Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver has six 8k capable HDMI inputs as well as two outputs for connecting to display devices such as TVs and projectors. The unit also has two built-in Wi-Fi aerials and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, there is a wired Ethernet port.
The unit also has built-in 11.2 channel processing so you can add extra amplifiers by using the pre-out connections. Additionally, outputs for two subwoofers are provided. Next, there is a built-in phono preamp and six analogue inputs. Unusually there is also a built-in AM/FM tuner. Lastly, there is a coaxial and optical digital input.
Streaming
The Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver has built-in access to Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, and Pandora. There is also an Onkyo app available that can be used to control streaming. It can be installed on Apple and Android devices. There are also many online radio stations and podcasts available.
THX Certified
Notably, the Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver is one of the few AV receivers on the market that is THX certified. Thousands of tests had to be conducted before the coveted THX certification was awarded. There are four THX listening modes cinema, gaming, music, and Surround EX.
Bi-directional Bluetooth
Another feature of the Onkyo TX-RZ50 AV Receiver is bi-directional Bluetooth support. This means that you can stream hi-res music from your device using SBC or AAC codecs. Additionally, you can transmit audio from the AV receiver to Bluetooth headphones using aptX. The latest generation of Bluetooth is used.
About Home cinema numbering
The numbering system with home cinema can be confusing. A 9.2 system comprises mine main speakers and two subwoofers. However Dolby Atmos and DTS:X systems used a different numbering system.7.2.4 refers to seven main speakers, two subwoofers, and four ceiling speakers.
However, simpler systems can also be built, initially. A 5.2 system, for example, would have a front left and right pair of speakers along with a centre speaker and two rear surrounds. There would also be two subwoofers.
