Product Description
The Naim CI-NAP 108 Eight-Channel Power Amplifier is designed to go with the Naim CI-Uniti 102 custom install amplifier and streamer. It is particularly aimed at driving Focal built-in architectural speakers. The unit can feed several speakers in different rooms and has individual inputs for each channel.
The inputs each have a gain control and can be set to take input from one of two busses or from their own individual input. Each channel has an output of 150 Watts with low noise and distortion.
High power outputs with low noise
Each of the eight outputs of the Naim CI-NAP 108 Eight-Channel Power Amplifier has a power of 150 watts. Moreover, the distortion is very low at only 0.006%. Additionally, the outputs are low noise. This is important if there are many speakers in use, where noise would be more noticeable.
Trigger inputs and auto-on
The Naim CI-NAP 108 Eight-Channel Power Amplifier has a trigger input so that it will turn on when the control unit is turned on. However, it also has auto-input sensing that will do the same thing. Additionally, it has an auto-off feature that will return the unit to standby after 20 minutes of no activity. Lastly, there is a temperature-activated fan to prevent overheating.
What is a custom install?
A custom install in audio refers to a bespoke system that uses multiple built-in speakers The Naim CI series is especially designed to go With the Focal range of architectural speakers. Often custom installs are used in home Cinema rooms, especially with 3D surround sound systems such as Dolby Atmos or DTS:X Pro.
Dolby Atmos uses sound “objects” that can be placed anywhere in 3D space. The surround effect is created by using side and ceiling-mounted speakers. This is neater and less obtrusive using built-in speakers.
A typical use case
Each of the eight outputs with the Naim CI-NAP 108 Eight-Channel Power Amplifier Can drive two speakers. As a result, it can be used to boost the power of the main channels in a surround sound system. That would be the left right and centre channels.
The unit could also drive the ceiling speakers in a professional Dolby Atmos installation. Moreover, eight different sound zones could be created each with its own music or other audio source.
