Product Description
Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 10 speakers are beautifully designed as no compromise high end loudspeakers, made to deliver a very natural sound. There is a two motor drive system that is designed to provide a pure sound with an optimised frequency response. The woofer is a 25cm unit with a pulp paper cone, while the tweeter is a 3cm unit with a large diameter voice coil. The well braced cabinet is available in two luxury finishes, Real walnut veneer or black. These are also sensitive speakers, which can be driven to full volume with as little as 30 watts of power.
Twin drive speaker motor system
SourcePoint 10 features a coaxial, twin drive, high-flux, neodymium magnet system. The motor system has been carefully designed to eliminate distortion. The woofer and tweeter have an optimized frequency response as well as low distortion. As a result, there are no out-of-band frequencies to muddy the sound. Additionally, the twin drive system creates a fully symmetrical magnet field. This breakthrough results in extremely low intermodulation distortion and a very pure uncoloured sound.
Two drivers, one point source
The 25cm concentric driver comprises two speakers in one unit. The driver was developed over 18 months and delivers stunning purity and deep bass. The paper pulp cone has 2.5 times the surface area of a standard 16cm unit. Consequently, the cone hardly needs to move to provide stunning bass. This low movement also allows the tweeter to breathe, for a coherent sound without any loss of bass.
The tweeter is mounted centrally, on top of the bass unit and has a 3cm soft dome cone. There is also a wide-roll surround and a large diameter voice coil. This gives the tweeter great power handling and minimal thermal compression. The cross over frequency is 1.6kHz, and this extends up to 30kHz. The two drivers work in unison to create a pure and powerful sound.
High quality well braced cabinet
Good bass demands a cabinet that will not resonate, even at high volume levels. The SourcePoint 10 is built with thick panels, with masses of bracing. 25mm thick panels are used for the top, bottom and sides. The front baffles are made of a faceted 50mm thick panel. The unit is then covered in real walnut veneer, or you also have the choice of a black finish. Finally, additional internal bracing connects all the sides to further eliminate resonances.
Easy to drive with high sensitivity
SourcePoint 10 are sensitive speakers, and can reach full volume with as little as 30 watts. The impedance is a nominal 8 Ohms. However, the minimum impedance requirement of 6.4 Ohms makes the speaker amplifier friendly. Whether you use a valve amplifier or transistors, the result will be stunning.
Multi-faceted baffle panel
The baffle panel needs to be rigid and free from sound reflections. As a result the SourcePoint 10 has a faceted baffle. This eliminates diffraction from the edges. The only sound is the music with no sound from the cabinet. Furthermore, to make the speakers less noticeable there are clip on fabric-wrapped grills. These attach magnetically and retain the profile of the faceted baffle. Furniture grade veneers are used that are book matched on both speakers.
