Product Description
The Marantz Model 60n Integrated Amplifier is a 60-watt-per-channel unit with built-in streaming capability. This mid-priced unit is packed with features and uses the HEOS app to stream in HD. There are also inputs for a CD player and an MM turntable. Digital inputs include optical and coaxial.
The frequency response is a massive 5hz to 100kHz. Aluminum heat sinks are used and the chassis is copper plated. Marantz-designed HDAM modules are utilized for the best audio performance. Lastly, The amplifier is Class A/B for a smoother performance.
Class A/B amplifier
The built-in amplifiers of the Marantz Model 60n Integrated Amplifier are traditional Class A/B units and the PSU uses toroidal transformers. Class A/B provides a clean and low distortion output. However, it generates more heat than a class D unit. As a result, an extruded aluminium heatsink is used for the output transistors.
Additionally, the chassis is copper-plated. The PCB design is symmetrical to avoid crosstalk and current feedback is used to lower distortion. The linear drive power supply uses toroidal transformers that emit a smaller magnetic field than standard types.
Class A/B advantages
Class A/B is a purely analogue system as a result there is no digital noise. Class A/B combines the best of Class A with the efficiency of Class B. At low output levels, Class A is used. This has no crossover distortion and the best possible sound quality. At higher outputs, the unit switches to class B where both output transistors are biased to operate more efficiently.
Marantz HDAM modules
Since the 1990s Marantz has been using their own HDAM modules in amplifiers. HDAM stands for Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module and they are about the size of a stamp. The module is a very high-performance unit with high gain and low distortion. It outperforms most other IC-based units. Moreover, they can be used for any of the low-level audio circuits.
Comprehensive streaming capability
The Marantz Model 60n Integrated Amplifier is HEOS enabled. HEOS is a well-specified streaming control app that lets you search for music across platforms such as Tidal, Pandora, and Amazon Music. It can also control the sound in multiple rooms. Moreover, it is high-resolution music capable. The app can be installed on most Android and iOS devices.
Good connectivity
As well as good streaming capability the Marantz Model 60n Integrated Amplifier has a wide range of inputs. For analogue, there is a MM turntable input. Additionally, there are two line inputs and a CD input. Digital inputs include optical and coaxial as well as USB. Next, there is an eARC-enabled HDMI input for TV sound and you can also connect WIFI and Bluetooth aerials at the back. Lastly, there is a wired Ethernet connection.
Modern cabinet design
The case of the unit has a modern look with a centrally placed circular display. The control layout is symmetrical with the source knob on one side and the volume knob on the other. There is also a manual bass, treble, and balance control along with a source direct switch.
This is a full-sized unit to provide good heat dissipation for the Class A/B amplifier. Lastly, there is a 6.3mm headphone output and binding posts for one set of speakers.
