Product Description

Luxman PD-151 Turntable includes a single point cross tonearm delivering analogue music reproduction with warmth and organic texture.

High Performance

Music can be distorted by even the most minute variations in platter speed and when the volume is increased, the phono cartridge picks up subtle resonance and vibrations in the chassis which cannot be separated from record groove tracking.

PD-151 analogue player, a more accessible alternative to the highly regarded PD-171A / AL, features 10mm thick aluminum top plate to the high-torque motor, ultra-wide drive belt and 4kg platter all working together to justify the breathtaking beauty of analogue sound.

High-Torque DC Motor

The purity depends on the stability of platter rotation so Luxman started with a patented sine wave/Pulse Width Modulation power supply offering ultra-stable direct current to proprietary DC brushless motor. This high-torque motor features low-noise acoustic bearings and an optimised number of coil turns.

The drive system monitors and maintains speed with PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) feedback control loop aiming for quick achievement of target speed, fast correction of minor errors and control over rapid fluctuations. For extra precision, the motor drives the external flange of the platter through an unconventionally wide belt.

Single-point cross tonearm

The tonearm features the traditional single point cross suspension bearing for very-smooth motion. Static balance facilitates different cartridge-headshell combinations. The supplied headshell is made by Luxman from magnesium alloy for reduced weight and high strength.

Underslung Chassis

Luxman engineered an underslung, suspended enclosure with components affixed under the 10mm thick aluminum upper chassis for high rigidity while suppressing vibration. PD-151 separates the chassis from the motor and power transformer using complex rubber damping mounts that help achieve highest quality performance.

Separate pitch adjustments

Luxman PD-151 refines acoustic playback with discrete front panel adjustments for 33-1/3, 45 and 78rpm. An LED indicator flashes green when the pitch is flat, blue when sharp and stays solid green when precisely on-pitch.

Machined Aluminum Platter

To match the sophisticated power supply, drive motor and belt, Luxman optimised the last guarantor of stable speed: the platter itself. The 4kg platter acts as a flywheel with extremely high "moment of inertia" to suppress smallest speed variations. A platter this heavy needs bearings capable of sustaining extremely high pressure.

Luxman uses PEEK thrust bearings and a brass radial bearing filled with organic molybdenum oil for smooth rotation. These exhaustive measures grant exceptionally stable platter rotation and conservatively rated wow & flutter under 0.04%. PD-151 delivers music with rare clarity, faithfully replicating the original.

10mm thick aluminum top plate

Luxman's latest design, mounting the three major elements of a turntable - tonearm, motor and platter, onto a hair-line finished 10mm thick top panel aims to achieve aesthetic appeal, minimalism and functionality. The matt black lower chassis produces a bold yet sensitive contrast.

Heavy-duty insulator feet

A player this huge requires specially engineered feet so Luxman created large insulators from rubber carefully selected for superb damping across all operating temperatures and with 8mm of independent height adjustment.
