Exakt Akudorik combines Linn’s class-leading acoustic expertise with an innovative stand design that houses all the electronics to drive the speaker actively, using Exakt technology.
Exakt eliminates magnitude and phase distortion, corrects for drive unit variation, and optimises your speakers for your room, giving you incredible performance that’s personalised for you. Like its bigger brother Exakt Akubarik, the speaker is fed a digital signal using the Exakt Link connection from an Akurate Exakt DSM. Simply extraordinary! This system just sounds "right", more than anything else I've heard. Unfortunately I wasnt lucky enough to be in the market for this system (I only popped in for some new speaker cables!) but Audio Affair were generous enough to invite me to have a listen to it.
Most of us spend so much time trying to match this with that from different manufacturers, no more importantly than with amplifier and speakers, I expect this is why this system works so well as its purpose designed to do everything so well. Its made for the amplifier to match the speakers and amplifier and source, although its all in a single box. Even the latter is a feature for contention with most of us, but Linn appear to have created a system within a single box that surpasses most of the multi-box systems I've heard. Perhaps though the fact the Akudorik speakers are active (or "aktiv") is a benefit as it removes the power amp from the main box, leaving this dedicated for the pre amp and source.
Its also very simple to use on its iPad app. I tried a range of high res music content from Michael Jackson to The Eagles to Nickelback to Chopin. Its can be both detailed, airy and light as it can be pack a real punch and by dynamic and fast. I really cant think of anything else Ive heard with this range of abilities which manages to do everything so well.
