Product Description
The Linn 150 speaker is a large floor-standing model with three drivers and two downward-firing bass ports. The frequency response goes lower than the bookshelf 119 model at 38Hz. There is a 16cm bass unit and a 16cm midrange. Both have Nextel-coated paper cones.
A large ferrite magnet and motor system is also a feature. The tweeter is a 19.55 mm unit that is ferrofluid-cooled. Next, the speakers can be upgraded with Linn Exakt modules. This will phase-match the drivers for an even smoother sound.
Premium bass and midrange drivers
Both drivers in the Linn 150 speaker feature a Nextel-coated paper cone that resists moisture. They have good linear performance as well as a high excursion. Moreover, they are closely mounted to the baffle and there is no obscuring grille. This prevents any sound loss and enhances the distance the cone can travel.
The large ferrite magnet motor system ensures a powerful sound. Lastly, the speakers can be fitted with Exakt units for optimized phase alignment.
Ferrofluid cooled tweeter
A 19.55mm ferrofluid-cooled tweeter is mounted in the Linn 150 speaker. This has a soft Sonomex dome for well-dispersed high frequencies. Moreover, there is also a large ferrite magnet motor assembly and the voice coil is ferrofluid cooled. This prevents overheating and burnout with powerful speaker systems. Lastly, the logo acts as a protector and can be rotated 360 degrees.
A high quality crossover
The crossover in the Linn 150 speaker is a three-way unit and uses only the best components. They provide a high-purity signal to each of the drivers with excellent speed and dynamism. Crossovers split the audio signal into bands for feeding to each driver and are made up of inductors and capacitors. The capacitors are normally polypropylene types that have a long life. However, capacitors can cause phase shifts that affect the timing of the audio. As a result, Linn developed the Exakt system.
What is the Exact system?
The Exakt system can be fitted to the Linn 150 speakers in minutes. It comprises amplifier modules and the Exakt hub that will drive each individual speaker driver separately. The built-in DSP engine makes sure that each driver has a correctly phased output so that the sound reaches the listener with optimized timing.
High qaulity cabinet design
The beautiful cabinets of the Linn 150 speakers are available in four high-quality finishes, Satin Black, White, Walnut, or Oak veneered. Additionally, the trim piece and logo can be rotated if the speaker is mounted horizontally. An optional plinth is also available. Lastly, there are three sets of gold-plated binding posts, one for each driver.
