Product Description
Leema Quasar integrated amplifier is part of Leema’s Stellar range and features a machined aluminium billet for the front panel and has classic looks with modern functionality. This fully featured amplifier will blend in with any décor.
The unit is a dual mono design with 200 watts per channel and should be able to drive any type of loudspeaker. The built-in DAC uses Leema’s own technology for superior performance. Finally, connectivity is good with six analogue and six digital inputs. The Quasar would be a good choice if you have a collection of legacy devices such as CD players.
Dual mono amplifier
The Quasar features dual mono output sections that are as physically separated as possible. This minimises crosstalk. They are also of high output, providing 200 Watts RMS into 8 ohms. This will drive even the most difficult or low-efficiency speakers. Dual mono amplifiers have a separate power supply for each channel. This allows the unit to have a higher current, and hence, power capability.
Integrated amplifier with DAC and streamer
An integrated amplifier gives you all you need for an audio system, in one box. It combines a pre amplifier with music source selection with a power amplifier to drive your speakers.
This integrated amplifier also features an onboard DAC (digital to analogue converter) for enjoying digital music sources. Quasar features a range of digital inputs along with six analogue inputs. Quasar also features onboard streaming via Bluetooth, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify Connect and Vtuner.
High-end DAC
The high-end DAC uses Leema’s proprietary Quatro infinity topology. All the digital inputs have full 24-bit 192kHz capability. The latest asynchronous and multi-frequency adaptive modes should ensure jitter-free synchronization with the source. The result is the highest possible replay quality. Additionally, the volume control is analogue. Digital volume controls often, also reduce the resolution as well as the volume. Not ideal for low volume listening.
Good connectivity
The Lemma Quasar integrated amplifier has excellent connectivity. There are no less than six analogue inputs. Two of which are balanced XLR with the rest being RCA connectors. There are also six digital inputs, three optical and three coaxial. A USB socket is provided for external hard drives. There are also two Wi-Fi aerials built in as well as Bluetooth. An Ethernet port is provided for wired connection to a network.
Additionally, Control apps are provided for both Android and Apple devices. This will allow you to stream from music services such as Spotify and Deezer. You can also control the volume and input selection from the front panel. The front panel also sports a screen for track infromation and setup details.
Who are Leema?
Leema was formed in 1998 by two ex-BBC engineers. Their first project together was the Xen micro monitor speaker. This was aimed at the professional market and was a compact speaker with exceptional performance for its size. Four years of work went into the design and it became known in audiophile circles. This led to the Xen being produced for the domestic market
After the success of the Xen the pair turned their attention to amplifier design. In 2006 the Tucana integrated amplifier was released. This won the Hi-Fi News amplifier of the year award. No small feat. They also made an award winning CD player the year after.
Unusually, all Leema products are designed and built at a facility in Wales. This maintains the high standards that Lemma is renowned for.
