Product Description
The Kendal 2S Surround Dipole Speakers are part of the Kendal Mk II collection. They are designed to be wall mounted and are a two-way design. They can be used as the left and right channels or for any of the other surround channels. Dual 5.25” woofers are used along with two 1” titanium domed tweeters. Moreover, The sloped cabinet is designed to send sound upwards and downwards, with the two tweeters at an angle. Dipole speakers emit a sound that is not aimed directly at the listener. This is designed to create a more spatial sound field.
Two titanium domed tweeters
Two ferrofluid-cooled titanium domed tweeters are used in the Kendal 2S Surround Dipole Speakers. Moreover, the ceramic motor structure is designed to give improved linearity and a smoother sound. Finally, the titanium dome helps to resist breakup at higher volume levels, and the liquid motor cooling wicks away any heat.
Aluminium driver baskets and a quality crossover
The Kendal 2S Surround Dipole Speakers also feature driver baskets made out of nonresonant diecast aluminium baskets. This is lightweight and strong. Next, the surrounds are made of butyl rubber. This material provides a comprehensive excursion as well as good power handling and efficiency. Finally, the crossover uses a custom design with premium iron core inductors and long-life Mylar capacitors.
A quality angled cabinet
The angled cabinet of the Kendal 2S Surround Dipole Speakers is made of thick 3/4” MDF. Notably, MDF has good anti-resonant properties. Moreover, the finest real wood veneers are used for cabinet decoration. All the wood used comes from sustainable sources. Next, strong steel wall brackets are provided to give the wall a safe and secure mounting. Gold-plated binding posts are also provided.
About surround sound systems
Surround sound systems are commonly referred to using a number system. The most common type of system is known as 5.1. The first number is the number of directional audio sources that can be played. The second number refers to the subwoofer. For example, a 5.1 system consists of two front left and right channels, a centre channel, a left and right surround channel and a subwoofer. The Kendal Mk II range has speaker types for all of the mentioned positions. A 7.1 system has additional side channels. There are also systems such as Dolby Atmos that can have up to 11 channels of audio.
