Product Description
The JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector features a brighter output than the NZ800 model at 3,300 lumens. It also has a greater range of picture modes and settings. JVC’s 8K/e-shiftX technology is used to provide a sharp picture with both 4k as well as 8K sources.
The technology, known as e-shift, effectively doubles the resolution by shifting each pixel up and down and to the left and right to generate a more detailed image. Moreover, the LCD chip used for projection is a 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA device. However true 8k content can be displayed with the gen2 algorithm. Images are bright and colourful with full HDR support.
True 8k input support
The input on the JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector supports full 8K playback. Large-scale integration is used by the D-ILD display chip to process four times the information of 4K. A data rate of 48Gbps at 60 fps is needed for 8k. This fast processing results in smooth judder-free images even at 8K. Additionally, there is a low latency mode for 4k 120p images. This is good for high frame-rate gaming, with smooth motion.
Sharp and colourful HDR images
The JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector uses a frame adapt function to enhance HDR content. A JVC algorithm looks at each scene or frame and analyses the brightness and colour level. Zone mapping is then used to optimize the dynamic range for projection. Moreover, the gen2 version has been improved. Images are brighter with a larger dynamic range and higher definition.
What is HDR?
HDR was designed to improve the contrast and colour range of images. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and works by including extra data on the contrast, brightness and colour depth of an image. Various versions have been developed with HRD10 used for TVs and projectors and HLG used for broadcasting.
The JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector can display most HDR formats. The HDR systems support the BT.2020 standard with a wide colour gamut and 10-bit gradation. Moreover, the 3,3000 lumens brightness of this unit can take full advantage of HDR.
High contrast with dynamic laser control
Black level with a projector refers to how dark a scene can get. With most projectors, even a completely black scene will have some light leakage. However, the JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector works differently. The Projector uses a Gen3 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA device and wire-grid optical engine.
Notably, this is used in conjunction with a dynamic laser light control. Each scene is analysed for dark content and the laser is turned off for any areas that are supposed to be black. This results in true blacks and a more realistic image.
High-brightness laser and connectivity
The laser light source in the JVC NZ900 8K eShift Projector has a higher output than the NZ900, at 3,300 lumens. JVC’s original laser light source “BLU-Escent Laser is used and this has a life of 20,000 hours. Notably, the output is almost double that of earlier models.
Finally, the power efficiency has also been improved. Connectivity includes two HDMI sockets. These can be used to connect a TV and a disk player. Furthermore, HDMI supports 8K 60p and 4k 120p, and HDR switching is automatic.
