Product Description
The JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speakers are intended for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X systems. Notably, they fire upwards so can be used instead of built-in ceiling speakers. Alternatively, they can also be mounted on the ceiling. The sealed enclosure houses a two-way unit with a 4.5” bass midrange driver and a 1” tweeter.
The frequency range is good for a compact speaker, extending from 85 Hz to 25 Hz. The maximum power handling is 150 watts.
4.5” punchy bass/mid driver
The 4.5” bass/mid driver cone, as used in the JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speaker, is made of ribbed Polycellulose. Most speaker cones are made of a paper pulp known as cellulose. However, more modern materials are now being used. Polypropylene does not absorb moisture so maintains it’s properties better over time. Polypropylene can also produce less distortion.
Notably, the cone of the JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speaker is made of Polycellulose. This combines the best properties of cellulose and polypropylene. Namely, improved rigidity and damping characteristics. Lastly, the 1” anodized aluminium tweeter sits in a waveguide for improved high-frequency dispersion.
A quality cabinet
The cabinet of JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speakers is constructed of audio-grade MDF panels. Good internal bracing ensures resonance-free playback. Additionally, the sealed enclosure provides an accurate and detailed performance. The front grille protects the drivers and they can be wall or ceiling-mounted.
Crossover
Two-way speakers such as the JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speakers need a crossover. The crossover splits the incoming audio into two components for feeding to the individual drivers. Audio-grade polypropylene capacitors are used as well as quality inductors.
The crossover acts as a high-pass filter. It feeds high frequencies to the tweeter. Good quality components are important as poor capacitors can go electrically leaky or change value over time.
The JBL AV receiver and speaker range
JBL Stage 240H Atmos Speakers are designed to go with the current range of JBL AV receivers. There are also two sets of bookshelf speakers available. These can be used as the front left and right speakers in smaller. Rooms. For larger rooms, there are larger floor standers available.
Next, a well-specified centre speaker is available, with four bass/mid drivers. There are also two sizes of subwoofers. Lastly, JBL produces a range of great value and well-specified AV receivers.
Available in Espresso or Latte woodgrain finish with solid color front baffles and matching grilles.
