Product Description
The Jamo S7-43C centre speaker is the higher model in the S7 range sitting above the S7-25C. It features four 3.3” bass drive units along with a fabric 1” tweeter.
The centre channel is essential for the good reproduction of dialogue and sound effects with today's movies and games. Without it you are missing the nuances that the director intended. The 43C compliments the other speakers in the S7 series by having a plinth however it is not tilted. This ensures that the dialogue is directed toward the listeners.
Why Centre Speaker?
Stereo sound began in theatres in 1940 with Disney's Fantasia. Even at this early date the soundtrack had a centre channel as well as a left and right channel. In this case the sound was carried on a separate film. It was realised that with the left and right speakers being at either side of the screen there was a “hole in the middle effect”. The centre channel is primarily used to anchor the dialogue to the action. However the centre channel also carries sound effects. Without a centre speaker you are missing out on what the director intended.
Speech, can you hear it?
Background noise can mask the dialogue. Most movie soundtracks are mixed with multiple channels, and music or background noise can make speech unintelligible without a dedicated centre speaker. Most multi-channel cinema amplifiers will allow you to adjust the relative level of the dialogue without affecting the rest of the sound image.
Crisp and Clear Highs
The S7-43C features a newly designed, fabric 1” tweeter that has a copper Faraday ring to increase sensitivity and reduce non-linear distortion. The tweeter itself and its surround are made of a fabric that has low distortion characteristics along with a detailed but not harsh sound. Most human speech is of a fairly low frequency however some sound effects will go higher, hence the need for a good tweeter.
Thundering but Natural Bass
The Jamo S7-43C centre speaker features four 3.3” bass drivers that feature high strength motor assemblies and aluminium shorting inductance rings. The rings help with power handling and lower distortion. The aluminium ring acts as a heat-sink ensuring that the bass is dynamic and clean. Additionally, embossed paper cones increase rigidity so that detail is more apparent. The bass is snappy yet natural
Easy Connectivity
The cavity at the back of the speaker is known as the porthole and houses the terminals for connection to the amplifier. The pothole in this design is deep enough to allow easy access and is inspired by the shape of one of Denmark's native fishing boats. The terminals can take plugs, spade connectors or bare wire.
Scandinavian Inspired Colours
Since 1968 Jamo have been a leading manufacture of loudspeakers. Nordic nature has inspired the colour palette of the S7 range. The blue of a Norwegian Fjord inspired the dark blue of the S7 range. While Finish mist and snow inspired the white and grey of the other colour choice. This subtle colouring will go with any décor.
