Product Description

HiFi Man HE1000se Headphones draw on the well-respected HE1000v2 with a driver that's 5dB more economical permitting use with transportable devices. It uses a diluent driver as well as an all-new magnet structure. With the 95dB sensitivity, the result is all the detail and air of the HE1000v2 with greater instant dynamic sound.

Great Build

The metal structure craft is achieved through CNC milling and hand-polishing. To satisfy the high standards expected, the surface is fastidiously applied by accomplished craftsmen. Ergonomically, the HE1000se is exceptionally inviting, because of a specially designed band that has a gentle arch structure for stability and sturdiness for years of usage with no degradation in fit.

Planar Magnetic

HE1000 features planar magnetic technology to produce sound. In contrast to typical dynamic drivers, HiFiMan headphones use an ultra thin film in proximity to a magnet for sound that is detailed and lifelike with outstanding clarity. Thinner films tend to yield quicker response, high dynamic range and lower distortion for natural audio reproduction.

In the HE1000, the nanometre thin film diaphragm is a breakthrough core technology developed by HiFi Man and first to be used in headphone application. The film, when viewed from the side, seems invisible to the naked eye. Working with this advanced material is very difficult yet the successful incorporation of this film because the HE1000se’s planar driver is the basis of its outstanding sound.

Window Shade System

HiFi Man uses an Open Back style for very best sound. With HE1000se, a proprietary “Window Shade” is exactly structured to gain better openness in the headphone design. It keeps the sound waves from second refraction to avoid unwanted vibration and distortion. Result is a wider soundstage, outstanding imaging and great clarity. Aesthetically, the “Window Shade” also provides a distinct, high-tech look to HE1000.

Nanometer Diaphragm

Based on seven years of R&D into getting the optimum balance between high driver potency and high sound quality. The innovative style of the double-sided, asymmetrical magnetic circuit is the excellent pairing of the diaphragm in Nanometre thickness and its Magnetic partner.

The advanced magnet system aims to be acoustically clear, dramatically reducing wave diffusion turbulence that degrades the integrity of the soundwaves. This reduces distortion for purer and greater harmonious sound. In contrast to a standard magnet, the special form of the subtle magnet allows the waves to pass through with no interference generated.

The Cord

The HE1000 package includes 3 differing kinds of plugs: mini 6.35mm, 3.5mm and 4-pin XLR enabling use with a large array of kit. The plugs are simple to change and quickly connected to dissimilar cables and amplifiers.

HE1000se uses crystalline copper and crystalline silver wire customised for wide frequency range, low signal loss and increased emphasis on the low end for quality audio. The cables are user-replaceable and have channel orientation for left and right.

Incredible top tier headphones! They have a fairly even response, with staggering deep bass extension which seems to me to be comfortably flat to below the limit of hearing - fantastic for music which uses deep bass frequencies a lot. Treble is perhaps a little pushed, but not harsh and with a gorgeous "air" quality. Detail across the whole frequency spectrum is amazing - to the extent that flaws you've never noticed before on very familiar recordings, even with other very good headphones, are laid bare - all the same you will know you're hearing absolutely everything the recording has to give, which is great. You also notice micro-details in instrument texture, tiny delicate background sounds etc. Having heard this insane kind of detail, for me there is no going back, and many modern recordings will sound just incredible. Wonderful with any genre - from hard hitting electronic house music to a string quartet, and all points in between.

Imaging is a wow - individual sounds aren't just points, but rather have a 3D quality, like a physical presence, and sit in precisely in their own space, even when there are several sounds in the same direction. The sound stage is certainly big, with great width, depth and height, but not over-blown - you can appreciate the space in a recording very clearly, and yet even very distant sounds are perfectly distinct - you just hear everything. Vocals perhaps not quite as forward as with some cans, but are by no means recessed, and come over beautifully, with masses of insight from the hyper-detailed presentation. Dynamics are great too - these headphones are extremely fast, and will slam effortlessly when called upon, but also can be really subtle too, and they do it all with a feeling of not having to try.

Other things - ridiculously easy to drive for such a big, and big-sounding, headphone, which makes them very flexible in terms of equipment matching. They are really, really open though, so more suited to home use. Comfort I find to be just lovely - the overall weight is pretty light, and with the big pads that go around your ears with space to spare, also the suspension headband system I find very good too. The build feels premium, with nice machined alloy, leather on the pad sides and inlaid wood veneer. Some have said not quite up to the very best in this regard, which maybe is true, but it's certainly at least excellent. So basically top tier headphones that don't disappoint at all, and will likely exceed expectation with the sound quality - if you fancy a top of the line planar with an even, yet airy, open presentation, big sound stage and just crazy detail and imaging, these are it.
