Product Description

Falcon Acoustics M10 stand mount loudspeakers are a two way design than brooks no compromise. With its BBC ancestory, this is a British Audiophile loudspeaker that belies it's size. The two way ported design can handle 100w and has a silky smooth sound.

This model was launched at the same time as the M50, the first of five models with others to follow. The M50 is a larger floor stander while the M10 is stand mounted.

M10 Loudspeakers

The M10 is a two way design using the B110 bass unit that is a replicated version of the original 5” driver found in the 1970's LA3/5A, BBC monitors. The tweeter is a soft dome 25mm unit. Notably, the bass unit was designed by Falcon's founder, Malcolm Jones, when he was chief engineer at KEF, in the 1970's.

Enclosure Design

The M10 uses a vented enclosure that is available in a natural walnut veneer finish or Rosewood which is a special option. The cabinets are hand made it Italy, in the same plant that makes the Gold Badge LS3.5a's.

MD of Falcon Acoustics Jerry Bloomfield says that the M range is designed to present a range of speakers that appeal to those wanting a traditionally voiced British speaker that draws the musicians into the room and lets the listener engage with the music again.

Why Bass ports?

Bass ports are used by small loudspeakers to boost bass performance. Bass sounds can exit from the port giving a significant boost in bass. Speakers with rear facing bass ports need careful placement, too close to a wall and bass can be muddy or boomy, while too far can reduce low end performance.

Power and efficiency

The M10 is more efficient than most original 1970's loudspeakers and has an impedance of 8ohms. The frequency response is quoted at 40Hz to 25kHz. Power handling is a usable 100w. Falcon Acoustics are renowned for their crossover components. Their capacitors and inductors were at one time used by over 2/3 of British Manufactures. The M10 uses these state of the art components.

M10 Sound

Some modern loudspeakers can sound too bright and forensic. However the M10's give the best of the old and the new. The sound is smooth and silky with a sophistication that is musical and does not punch you in the face.

About Falcon Acoustics

Falcon Acoustics was founded in 1972 By KEF engineer Malcolm Jones. He designed the drive units for KEF and was instrumental in developing Self-bonded Ferrite Cored Inductors to customers requirements. These are used in loudspeaker crossovers. As a result, designers could use drive units from different manufacturers, to create loudspeaker systems, outside the main companies. Consequently, a number of speaker designs appeared in Hi-fi Magazine in the 1970s. Today Falcon Acoustics still produce a range of loudspeaker components and drive units.
