Product Description
Emotiva BasX PT1 pre amplifier and DAC is an affordable hi-fi component, but quality is assured with the high quality circuit boards and DAC. Additionally, A wide range of inputs means you can connect everything from a turntable to a computer to a smartphone, via Bluetooth. Wi-fi is also included along with a bonus FM tuner.
Hi-end DAC
The DAC is one of the most important parts of any modern audio system and the PT1 Uses the renowned Analog Devices AD1955 24/192k. The DAC or Digital to Analogue converter takes a digital signal and converts it back into an audio signal. For example on a CD the original audio was sampled at 22 Khz or 22,000 times a second. This is then cut into the surface of a CD as a series of pits. On playback a laser is focussed onto the disc producing a digital signal that has to be converted back into audio.
Stereo preamp
The stereo preamp uses hi-end fibre glass circuit boards with short signal paths to provide a clean sound. The output from a magnetic cartridge is only a few millivolts so good design is essential to prevent hum and noise. The BasX PT1 has a Phono preamp that can take moving magnet or moving coil cartridges. Analogue inputs are provided for CD and auxiliary.
Usability and Connectivity
The front panel controls are all you need to use the PT1, however the provided remote control enable you to access the intuitive menu system making setting up the unit a breeze. As well as the analogue inputs there are digital input sockets for coaxial and optical. Additionally a USB socket is provided to connect your PC or MAC. There is an aptX HD capable Bluetooth receiver for streaming.
FM tuner and display
The bonus FM tuner has 15 presets and can be controlled via the remote control. There is an FM aerial connection on the back of the unit. The bright but dimmable display tells you everything you need to know about the PT1s operation.
Quality circuit boards and layout
The circuit boards of the Emotiva BasX PT1 are made of fibreglass, rather than the usual SRBP paper resin based boards. these are much more rigid and heat resistant, giving the unit a long life. Additionally,The case is made of steel with an aluminium front panel. The toroidal transformer used is more efficient and compact than traditional shell and core types.

Great value with lots of options at the back and flexible. Excellent build quality. And and good clear display. A nice touch was the 12 VDC trigger output. Meaning the pre & A2 matching power amp from this company will work perfectly together. The only minus was the remote control which is a little plasticity. But worked perfectly . The headphone socket has plenty of power and works well with hard phones like Audeze.
