Emotiva BasX A-700 Seven Channel Power Amplifier

BasX A-700 is highly capable, delivering 110 watts (RMS) per channel, with total harmonic distortion (THD) less than 0.1%, into 8 ohms, with two channels driven. The total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) is itself less than 0.02% and with an SNR (signal to noise ratio) of 120 decibels referenced at full power. Circuit Topology

The BasX A-700 combines traditional amplifier architecture, based on a heavy-duty linear power supply, and a carefully designed high current short signal path Class A/B output stage, with an advanced microprocessor, that monitors and controls the protection circuitry, which delivers superb sound quality at a truly reasonable price.

Quality Construction

To produce 110 watts of power the A-700 uses a linear heavy duty power supply, which is fitted with a huge oversized toroidal transformer, capable of driving even difficult hungry speakers. Plus, utilising top quality parts throughout and the careful construction ensures the A-700 will be with you for many years, giving you reliable and consistent service.

The material quality of BasX products extends to the exterior of the unit, the chassis is made from steel (Heavy steel 2RU) the faceplate is milled from aluminium, which gives strength and a sturdy aesthetic. The circuit boards are double-sided FR4 boards, with through holes that minimises the signal paths and reduces the need for point-to-point wiring.

Connectivity

The inputs are industry standard unbalanced RCA connectors which accept all standard unbalanced interconnects. The speaker output terminals are five-way and insulated heavy duty which allows you to use a wide range of speaker terminations, from the regular banana plugs, bare wires, or lugs. The A-700 also features automatic triggers for both inputs and outputs, so the A-700 can control and be controlled by another trigger-enabled kit.

The BasX A-700 is multi-voltage, operating at either 115 VAC or 230 VAC at 50/60 Hz, automatically detecting and switching itself to the correct voltage.
