Product Description

Dali Spektor 1 speakers are entry level in everything but sound, an ultra-compact bookshelf speaker built around a 4½” wood fibre woofer and a 21 mm soft dome tweeter. They are perfect for almost any situation that requires a very small but high performance speaker, either in a compact two channel system or as the front, rear or side speakers in a home cinema system.

Bringing the Dali sound design principals to a new price bracket, Spektor 1 enables many new music and movies lovers to experience the seduction of true Hi-Fi.

Getting this much Hi-Fi performance from a speaker in this price range took all of Dali's experience and know-how as well as hours spent in the listening room improving the designs of the crossover and transducer to create the ideal acoustic performance.

Wide Dispersion

Dali makes it simple and effortless to integrate loudspeakers into your choice of room. Both the driver materials and geometry applied in the Spektor 1 have been selected to achieve a wide dispersion pattern. You get a greatly-integrated sound even if you choose to listen noticeably off-axis. As you are often not seated directly in front of the loudspeaker when listening to music, this is important.

Speaker Positioning

Optimising the audio signal for off-axis distribution results in the signal reaching your ear directly and the signal reflected off the room surfaces, to have a coherent balance. This means a consistent high sound quality across a much wider listening area. At the same time, it offers greater freedom and flexibility in positioning the loudspeakers.

An added benefit is hugely reduced harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion, as these will always be stronger in an on-axis response. Hence, Dali speakers are not created for toeing-in.

Wood Fibre Cones

The Spektor 1 cone membrane is crafted from a mix of fine-grained paper and wood fibre pulp. This makes the cones very ridged, very light weight and the unevenness in the structure of the membrane helps minimise unwanted surface resonances.

Combining the well-behaving wood fibre cone with the low-loss rubber surround and spider suspension results in the reproduction of even the smallest micro-detail in the signal – unfiltered and with high accuracy.

Chassis Structure

The chassis was made for superior strength and optimised airflow. Keeping the woofer structure strong eliminates internal vibrations and the optimised airflow around the cone area keeps movements unhindered, resulting in the ability to transform as much of the energy from the amplifier into movement.

The woofer used in the Spektor 1 is developed specifically for this speaker. Even small details like the angle of the cone and the size of the dust cap is optimised for the best possible integration, dispersion and performance.

Amplifier Friendly

The concept is amplifier friendly which makes the Spektor range a suitable match for almost any amplifier in its price category. Regardless of whether Spektor 1 is paired with compact Hi-Fi, stereo amplifiers or surround receivers, it is sure to unleash the best in them exhibiting just how good songs and films can sound.

Soft Dome Tweeter

Spektor 1 tweeter renders high frequencies with great accuracy. This translates to ultra-short excursions with high acceleration; it incorporates a slow-paced mass and a strong motor.

The tweeter in Spektor 1 is based on an ultra-light weight weaved fabric. In comparison to current conventional soft dome tweeters, the material of the Dali dome is below half the weight; 0.056 mg per mm2.

Seamless Transition

The appeal of the soft dome tweeter is its uncanny ability to retrieve even the lowest notes of the high-frequency range with no break-ups. This is vital when processing the all-important hand-over from the woofer to the tweeter. Not having to push woofer or tweeter beyond their capabilities leads to a seamless transition and retention of every detail in the mid-range.

Low Signal Loss

The aim of any loudspeaker is to convert the amplifier signal into a lifelike audio experience in the listening space. Deviations in distortion or coloration of original signal is a degradation of the audio.

Clarity in an audio signal is obtained by low-loss of information in combination with creating a smooth and seamless reproduction in both the time and frequency domain.

Exact Crossover

Through the use of solely Dali-designed and custom-built drivers, there is no need for frequency correction in the crossover so Dali could design an accurate crossover out of superior components while keeping the signal loss close to zero.

Another fundamental is the lowering of mechanical distortion. This to make sure that the connected amplifier will not be exposed to a larger than necessary challenge, causing loss of detail in the signal even before it has the chance to reach the loudspeaker.

Through very low mechanical loss, the most fragile sound details, even at very low listening levels, are preserved. This is the sole method to acheive ultimate transparency and vividness from the audio reproduction.

Ultra Compact Design

Dali Spektor 1, in line with all Dali speakers, conforms to the brand's primary acoustic and electro-acoustic principles and a robust belief that purity and an authentic, genuine sound reproduction will transport you even closer to the entire impact of a live music experience.

The very-compact Spektor 1 and its minutely larger Spektor 2 counterpart are perfect for wall mounting or positioning on a shelf or stand in combination with any compact Hi-Fi music system.

Spektor Range

The Spektor 1 is the entry level model of the impressive value Spektor range packing powerful sound in a compact build. The larger Spektor 2 speakers offers a greater inner volume from a relatively small cabinet ensuring flexibility in positioning. These bookshelf speakers can also be matched with the floorstanding Spektor 6 speakers and Spektor Vokal Speaker to create a 5.1 system of your choosing.
