Product Description
The Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker is a centre speaker intended for home cinema systems. It features two 6.5” “clarity cone” bass/midrange drivers as well as a rotatable tweeter assembly. This can be rotated so that the speakers can be used horizontally or vertically.
Each unit houses two tweeters, a ferrofluid-cooled coned type and a planar magnetic ribbon type. As a result, the frequency range extends up to 34kHz and the sound is rich and warm with great detail. Lastly both the crossover inductors and speaker magnets use Dali’s improved SMC material.
New Clarity Cone drivers
The two “Clarity Cone” drivers as used in the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker feature a soft magnetic compound (SMC) magnet. This magnetic material can be shaped and has enhanced audio properties. The granular structure reduces eddy currents which can cause losses. It also smooths out the frequency response. Lastly, nonlinearity, distortion and colouration are also reduced.
Why a centre speaker?
Centre speakers, such as the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker, are used by home cinema systems to enhance the clarity of dialogue. They are also used for some effects. The Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker can be paired with any Rubikore series speakers to create a home cinema system. There are also wall-mountable, speakers that can be used for the rear or side channels.
Low-loss dome tweeter
With the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker, the rotatable tweeter pod houses a low-loss domed tweeter as well as a ribbon unit. The domed tweeter is ferrofluid-cooled for maximum performance at high powers. The surrounding waveguide is used to enhance the dissipation of high-frequencies. The ribbon tweeter extends the high frequencies up to 34 kHz.
Why ribbon tweeters?
The Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker also features a planar magnetic or ribbon tweeter. This extends the high-frequency response. Ribbon tweeters have a diaphragm rather than a cone. The diaphragm is much lighter and is far more responsive. The higher level of acceleration makes them ideal for the short high-frequency waves produced by a tweeter.
Upgraded crossover
The crossover used in the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker has been upgraded with SMC inductors. The crossover is used to split the audio frequency range into two components. Each signal is then fed to the respective drivers.
The crossover consists of inductors and capacitors that form a high pass filter. Previously capacitors had a per dielectric this tended to go leaky over time. As a result, modern capacitors use a polypropylene dielectric that will last for decades.
Danish quality cabinets
The cabinet of the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker is handmade in Denmark. Only the best quality materials are used to create a rigid and resonance-free enclosure. Additionally, there is a continuous flare reflex port that boosts the bass. Finally, four beautiful finishes are available. High gloss white, high gloss black, natural walnut, and high gloss maroon.
Home cinema systems
The Rubikore range can be used to create a top-of-the-line cinema system. This can be a simple 5.1 system or a more complex Dolby Atmos system with up to 17 channels. A 5.1 system can use any Rubikore speakers for the left and right pair. There is also the Dali Rubikore Cinema LCR Speaker described above.
Next, wall-mountable speakers are available in the Rubikore range. These can be used for either side or rear surround speakers. Lastly, Dolby Atmos requires ceiling speakers and Dali makes a range of architectural speakers that can be built into walls and ceilings.
