Product Description

Cyrus’ Stereo 200 power amplifier is the first hybrid power amplifier to be launched from this new platform, incorporating a traditional Cyrus power supply design with a low noise toroidal transformer, married with a new, high power, class D output device.

Unique Hybrid Design

Delivering a herculean 2 x 200 watts into 6 O from the single ½ width Cyrus die-cast aluminium chassis, this amplifier is intended to fit in the range between the X-Power and the Mono X 200 Signature. A new 200 watts per channel stereo power amplifier using a unique hybrid design, this high-quality power amp provides immense power from a very compact chassis. An ideal match with Stream XP or Pre DAC models.

Stereo 200 is a high-performance power amplifier incorporating a new and unique Cyrus topology that combines the benefits of high efficiency and lower heat generation from a digital output stage with highly refined analogue power supply design. This combination provides enormous continuous power, zero feedback technology and superb dynamics.

Reducing Microphony

The negative physical impact of vibration on an electrical component. This can be microphonic and caused by the environment or just the music playing in the room transferring energy into a poorly made lightweight chassis, and thereby into the capacitors and other susceptible components. Unlike valves where taping the glass component was directly audible, microphonic influence on solid state electronics has an effect more like blurring the sound. The Cyrus chassis is inverted allowing Cyrus to ‘hang’ the transformer inside the chassis helping to improve further the inherent ‘deadness’ of the cast chassis.

Die-Cast Chassis

Electrical components inductively couple their electromechanical field into the ferrous steel used in all low-cost chassis, which in turn inductively influences all the other components. Cyrus’ choice of aluminium for custom pressure die-cast chassis means circuits are unaffected by inductive loops and therefore the high performance, close tolerance components specified perform optimally in a quieter environment.

Low Power Standby

Despite the high power specification of Stereo 200, the amplifier consumes less than 0.5 watt, power consumption, in standby state

Press Reviews

  • 'Punching out serious amounts of power from a small box, the Cyrus Stereo 200 makes a big impression' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)

  • 'Despite its unusual, bespoke design, the Stereo 200 still sounds spookily like a typical Cyrus product - One which serves up a smooth, tonally even sound with no particular emphasis on any part of the frequency range, and that has a crisp and propulsive feel to the way it plays music.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
  • 'I think rock music best suits this amplifier's nature; it is subtle and sophisticated enough to work well across the board, yet can tackle crashing electric guitar chords and drums with relish.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
  • 'It's certainly one of the feistiest sounding Cyrus power amplifiers I have ever heard, making it ideal for owners of this marque wanting to raise their roof or even just drive difficult loudspeakers. Yet it also has real appeal for those needing a fine-sounding powerhouse that doesn't take over their living space.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
