Sony VPL-VW260ES 4k projector provides a gateway to true, native, 4k projection from the market leaders, Sony, at a hitherto price point.

It’s our belief, here at Audio Affair, that Sony is the current market leader in 4k, home cinema, projector technology. Now, thanks to a brace of new releases, Sony make cinema quality, native 4k projection attainable at a hitherto unobtainable price point.

If you’ve been considering making the jump to 4k, then the Sony BPL-VW260ES might just represent the perfect opportunity to do so…

4k Resolution – for cinema quality visuals

True 4k UHD provides an astonishing lifelike image with the same resolution defined by the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative) for cinema distribution. 4k offers resolution four times that of Full HD (8.8 million pixels – 4096 x 2160), offering the dedicated home cinema enthusiast the same experience as a true, commercial cinema.

The major barrier to 4k home cinema, thus far, has been the somewhat prohibitive cost of the projectors themselves. Now, thanks to the new “entry level” Sony VPL-VW260ES projector, that price barrier has just been brought down within the reach of the serious home enthusiast.
Unlike many “pseudo 4k” projectors, the Sony VPL-VW260ES offers true, native, 4096 x 2160 4k projection.

For those who may have been “on the fence” regarding buying into the 4k infrastructure, the Sony VPL-VW260ES represents the ideal gateway to join this elite club. There’s never been a better time to get into enjoying UHD movies at home and experiencing the thrill of genuine cinema quality visuals, at home.

Sony VPL-VW260ES – affordable true 4k

The key to the Sony VPL-VW260ES’s price to performance ratio can perhaps be found in Sony’s SXRD panel technology. Sony’s advanced SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) panel technology is essentially the same as used in Sony’s professional digital cinema projectors; delivering true, native 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution images, with more than four times the detail of conventional Full HD projection.

Sony’s latest generation of SXRD 4K panels has been developed to provide even better contrast than their previous projectors. Sony’s SXRD projection technology offers “rich inky blacks”, as well as smooth cinematic motion, free from artefacts. Sony’s improvements to the panel’s reflective silicon layer offer benefits in improved light control, precise shadows and deep blacks.

Another benefit of Sony’s SXRD panel technology, compared to competitors devices, is that SXRD is capable of achieving an extremely high contrast ratio. This doesn’t come at the cost of low output brightness, however; 1,500 lumens brightness allows you to enjoy all the UHD action in vivid brightness on screens up to 762 cm (300″).

Intelligent processing & Clever Design

The Sony VPL-VW260ES allows you to extract the very best from UHD Blu-ray and streaming services with High Dynamic Range video support. HDR video provides an expanded brightness range which brings with it high-contrast images and brilliant colours. The Sony VPL-VW260ES is compatible with both HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) formats.

Sony has packed the VPL-VW260ES with some of their cleverest proprietary image processing technology to date:
“Reality Creation Technology” analyses images at pixel level and uses powerful pattern-matching algorithms developed over years of movie production to enhance image crispness without increasing digital picture noise as well as upscaling existing full HD Blu-ray and DVD movies to near 4K quality.

“TRILUMINOS” colour reproduces more tones and textures than standard projectors allowing for subtle shades such as crimson reds, aqua blues, and emerald greens to be displayed to their best. Landscapes and seascapes will appear more vividly whilst faithfully reproduced skin tones bring characters to life.

Sony hasn’t forgotten the practical factors, either; a low noise, whisper quiet, front mounted fan ensures easy positioning and that the VPL-VW260ES is seen and not heard. Sony’s advanced lamp control technology allows for an extremely long lamp replacement time of up to 6,000 hours, saving on costly and inconvenient lamp replacement.

Convinced yet? You should be! The Sony VPL-VW260ES 4k projector proves that there’s never been a better time to join in on the 4k revolution.
