What is Sony’s 360 Reality Audio?
Headphones normally narrow the sound field. However, with 360 reality audio, sounds come from all around you. Vocals, instruments and effects are placed in a 360-degree sphere giving an immersive experience. The experience is also affected by ear shape. Sony provides a connect app that will analyse your ear shape and match the source to give the best possible 3D experience. The distance and angle of sources are represented in the soundscape.
New 5.8mm hi-res drivers
Newly designed 5.8mm drivers give an extended frequency range for deep lows and spectacular highs. Detail is enhanced thanks to the Qualcomm cVc Generation 8.0 technology. CVC stands for Clear Voice Capture and was developed by Qualcomm to mask ambient noise and road noise to make voice transmission easier to hear. There is also a low latency mode that minimises sound delay when playing games or watching videos. The frequency range extends from 10Hz to 40KHz.
Why earbuds?
Headphones can be awkward especially if you are moving about while jogging or running. Earbuds fit inside the ear without needing a headband. The best earphones use noise cancelling technology to suppress environmental sounds such as road noise or vehicle noise. They also provide privacy when using a Smartphone. Additionally, some earbuds come with proprietor technology that will enhance voice reception from a Smartphone such as CVC from Qualcomm.
Choosing earbuds
Earbuds need a top-quality Bluetooth chip such as the ATH-TWX9 with its Qualcomm chip. They also need a high-density battery for long use. Mainly they need to be of good construction to survive heavy use. Only the better earbuds will support high-resolution audio. Finally, the ear tips are important, poorly fitting ear tips will not maintain a good seal. That is one reason why the ATH-TWX9 comes with 12 different tips. So spending a bit more on earbuds will pay dividends.

I have too many head/ear phones, the majority play certain genres well but fall flat with others. My tastes go from jazz, soul, deep house, alternative, death/black metal through to grindcore. Audio Technica are the only ear monitors that cover all bases really well. Impressive.
Im a bit of hybrid. I need monitors that play all of my tastes well that are eclectic. Soul, Jazz, Death/Black Metal & Grindcore. Honestly tried many ear & headphones up to reasonably high end but audio-technica cover all genres really well....somehow. Ive got a horde of headphones that are great playing certain things, but A-T cover it. They took a bit of an effort to set up (no problem) but these work for me.
