Product Description
ATC CD2 CD Player is a 2/3 width compact and high-performance CD digital audio source delivering excellent performance and compatibility with a broad range of high-quality electronics while styling assures seamless integration with other equipment.
ATC Legacy
CD2 CD player is designed to work seamlessly with SIA2-100 driving high-quality passive speakers to upgrade existing sources or amplifiers. These are the latest addition to ATC’s formidable range of top-performance audio electronics and speaker systems made for studio and hi-fi purposes.
Engineering
CD2 uses the acclaimed TEAC 5020A-AT transport which easily passed ATC’s arduous tests. The AKM DAC works together with an output filter stage encompassing a digital filter and patented low-noise multiple feedback analogue filter.
CD Player
Many music lovers increasingly rely on file-based or streaming systems but also own large CD collections. For high quality playback for both mediums, ATC offers the versatility of a “stand alone” player instead of integrate a player within the SIA2-100.
Gain Stages
The CD2’s four gain stages, each comprising 11 discrete components, provide a “true” differential output for the left and right channels. The output stages are configured as unity gain complementary compound (Sziklai) pairs, biased in class A. The positive and negative drivers are arranged in parallel to ensure that signal delays and phase shifts on each side are similar.
Circuit Design
Nine discretely calibrated power regulators are used in the circuit design, showcasing ATC’s preference for local power regulation and decoupling to reduce distortion and noise. The coax digital output uses a high-performing isolation transformer to reduce possible hum loops if both audio and digital signals are linked to the same unit. PCB track lengths are as short as possible, and grounding and screening is thoroughly applied.
Connectivity
The ATC CD2 Stereo CD Player provides a line-level stereo output on RCA phono sockets, together with true differential Left and Right outputs on XLR sockets. Digital S/PDIF Outputs are available on Optical Toslink and Coaxial outputs. Operation is through 5 push buttons on the front panel, which is duplicated on the ATC remote control handset supplied.
Construction
CD2 chassis is built to be sturdy, rigid and well damped with precision-cut 12mm aluminium front panels finished in brushed and anodised ‘titanium’ silver.
