Product Description

Yamaha NS-SW1000 subwoofer is Yamaha's premium sub, it uses Advanced YST ll that has been perfected over the past 25 years to achieve accurate sound reproduction, especially with low bass frequency components.

The intention is produce a subwoofer that is as capable with explosive film audio tracks as it is with adding dramatic richness to high-end Hi-Fi systems, this is achieved by mixing scale with  traditional musicality and results in a deep, tight, clean bass response.

High Strength, Heavy Enclosure

The cabinet employs a large 19kg (41.9 lbs) high strength, heavy bass reflex enclosure that has been craft from MDF (36mm - 1-3/8” thickness) on the baffle sides and a slightly thinner MDF (25mm - 1”) on the other sides.  The cabinet is put together with a traditional three-way mitered joints to ensure the cabinet is highly rigid, without flex. The cabinet has a strong resonance-resisting structure, including iron cast legs. The woofer follows a front-firing design and the driver is situated on the front of the enclosure. The sub manages to delivers direct, accurate sound that is versatile for home theatre or high-end audio systems.

New Twisted Flare Port

The port is a new Twisted Flare Port design based on Yamaha's extensive R&D development experience. The flaring of the port, is a twisted shape that is intended to diffuses any air vortex, that is generated around the edge of the port, and subsequently the air flow is smoothed. The port ensures any potential extraneous noise are not created by the cabinet and the resulting signal is clear and accurate. From cinematic special effects to the electric atmosphere of live recordings, with the NS-SW1000 you will get a bass that is tight, clear, and realistic.

Digital Power Amplifier

The subwoofer is powered by a 1kW digital amplifier, using a drive stage of Yamaha's digital amplifier IC and a high current MOS-FET discrete push-pull output stage. Using triple-wound Litz wire and a high-capacity output coil, with capacitors especially designed for audio, and perfect for home theater or Hi-Fi systems.

The power supply uses a massive 10.2kg (22.5 lbs) high capacity power transformer with two large block electrolytic capacitors (160V 4,700μF), easily capable of maintaining 1kW of power. By using a normal traditional analog power supply, the subwoofer has a quality frequency response, especially in the very low bass range.

Yamaha’s Unique A-YSTII

Developed by Yamaha, the Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II) incorporates negative-impedance and constant-current, so the driver is highly controlled. The circuits are Advanced Negative Impedance Converter (ANIC) circuits, which reduce speaker impedance to ensure superior linearity. The result is a highly accurate and stable low frequency output, with top quality sound.

All-New Woofer Unit

The NS-SW1000 comprises a 30cm (12”) driver with a flexible and durable drive system, based on large double layer ferrite magnets, with a double damper vented. The frame of the subwoofer is constructed from die-cast aluminium that is used to reduce any potential resonance even at high intensity levels, and therefore easily reproducing even the delicate musical nuances.

Optimally Designed

The diaphragm of the woofer is constructed from semi-pressed paper, that incorporate Kevlar fibres into the paper, to give a very high strength and rigidity. The NS-SW1000 is available in  three top quality finishes, black piano, white piano, or a black embossed laminate. The piano finish is the finish you would find on Yamaha grand pianos, and finally at the last stage of production, each subwoofer is polished, to give a resulting gloss that will look impressive in either your living room or listening room.

The embossed laminate finish is thought to be ideal for home theatre settings, whereby the subdued gloss finishes is intended to reduce reflections from the unit, plus it is a scratch resistance surface. The front panel is Aluminium with a neat hairline finish, that accents the front panel, the volume control is also Aluminium.  The controls of the sub are spread across the front panel giving a high quality, comfortable aesthetic.

Auto Standby

To be a modern ecological machine, the subwoofer automatically goes into stand-by mode if it has not been used for more than 8 minutes. The modern energy-saving feature maintains power consumption to under 0.3 Watts in standby mode. A System Controller trigger is also included, which means that when it is connected to an AV or integrated amplifier, the power can be set to be automatically turned on and off with the connected amplifier. The cable included should be sufficient for most set-ups, being 5 Metres long (16 ft).

Phase/B.A.S.S

The subwoofers rear panel has phase controller, so you can select whether you want the the woofer to be in either normal or reverse phase. The phase control allows you to match the subwoofer to you listening space and the speakers you are matching them to. An additional feature is a B.A.S.S. switch on the rear panel, where you can set the subwoofer output characteristics to Film or Music.
