Save 35% off RRP in this premium Piano Black finish Wharfedale Jade 1 speakers. This bookshelf model was designed to offer unbeatable sound from a compact speaker and is one of the finest speakers we've done an exclusive on to date.
These are a perfect speaker choice for use with a stereo hi-fi amplifier, or suitable music system, although you can also use them as front and/or rear speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 channel home theatre setup, along with a suitable centre speaker and subwoofer.
The Jade range took advantage of proprietary technology that Wharfedale "trickled down" from their incredibly expensive flagship Airedale Heritage Classic speakers, making the Jade 1's something of a relative bargain even at their retail price.
Jade 1 was the most compact bookshelf speaker in Jade range and made to offer room filling, high end speaker performance. Jade's principle designer (the award winning Peter Comeau) said that “The goal is to allow the listener to become involved in the musical performance by immersion in the full emotion and passion engendered by the original musicians. We call this the Wharfedale Experience.” We think they succeeded!
We also have these speakers available on offer in Vintage Cherry and Black Oak although this is a premium gloss finish. We understand fewer models were made in the gloss finish making it rarer and while the veneer finishes look stunning, there is something particularly special about this gloss finish.
Aside from the finishes, the Jade 1's are special for their cabinet designs. Instead of a squared off box shape like many competitors at the time, the Jade's were desgned with elegant curves, and in this case the gloss finish really shows this off.
Far from style and no substance though, the cabinets are made from Wharfedale's proprietary Crystalam material, which is formed from bonded layers of natural woods and composites. This reduces panel vibrations and sound leakage to a point below which that is audible, removing any "acoustic signature" that square cabinets can give off, allowing you to simply listen to a speaker that is faithful to the original recording.
Along with the cabinet design, Jade 1 features specifically designed drivers with another propriatary material "Acufiber" in the speaker cones. This matches the responsiveness of carbon fibre and glass and with a self damping woven matrix. Wharfedale combined this with a linear drive motor system made just for this speaker and the overall result is a neutral radiator that just gives an honest sound. Jade 1 allows you to stop listening to your speaker and simply enjoy the music!
Jade 1 is a three-way speaker with high quality matching crossovers that are perfectly phase linear. As suggested already, the result of all of this painstaking design is a speaker that effectively disappears from the soundstage, creating an open, natural and cohesive sound.
These speakers offer pin point sonic detail, accuracy and expression with many different types of music. We haven't found something yet that they dont sound great with. Again though, we highly recommend using them with suitable filled speaker stands.
Matching Speaker Stands
These speakers are supplied without stands and you can use them on a desktop or other suitably strong surface, although we always recommend using them with suitable speaker stands for the best sound, filled with Atacama Atabites.
4 Aug 2016I saw this offer on your newsletter and wasnt convinced about spending £40 on the gloss black over the black oak but I changed my mind when they arrived, they look fantastic. Really pleased with how they sound as well, better than the other speakers I've demoed under £500 which youd expect them to be if they were £599 originally. Only thing I would add is they sound a lot better on a proper pair of speaker stands filled with sand and you could suggest this on your website. Other than that, this was a great buy.
