Save 35% on the Wharfedale Jade 1 speakers in vintage cherry. The Jade 1 were built to offer unbeatable sound from a compact speaker (ideally) with or without suitable speaker stands.
You can use a single pair of Jade 1 speakers on their own in a stereo music system, or combine two pairs along with a suitable centre speaker and subwoofer for a 5.1 channel home cinema setup.
Jade 1 is designed to offer high end large bookshelf speaker performance in a more affordable speaker with proprietary technology "trickled down" from Wharfedale's flagship Airedale Heritage Classic speakers. They're capable of exceptional sonic detail and expression across a wide range of music and sounds, free from coloration, ambivalent to its surroundings and faithful to the original recording. Everything you could ask for!
Finish on these speakers is stunning. They feature elegantly curved cabinets, made from a proprietary material Crystalam. This material is formed from bonded layers of natural wood elements and composites, designed to reduce sound leakage and panel vibrations to a point below that which is audible. This spreads resonances over a wider frequency range, avoiding the "acoustic signature" given by many conventional box cabinets. As a result, the cabinets no longer have an audible influence on the sound of the drivers.
Many speakers purport to use "high performance drivers" or "high end drivers" but may offer little more than a traditional design with a shiny dome. The Jade range is a little different and again the word proprietary comes into play, emphasising the fact Wharfedale really has gone back to the drawing board with these speakers. The proprietary cone material is called Acufiber and combines the responsiveness of carbon fibre and glass and with a self damping woven matrix. This, along with a moulded pattern and one of the most linear drive motor systems created for a speaker, results in a neutral radiator that is responsive enough to transfer musical transients without dulling, yet naturally damped to reduce coloration.
The result? Again, a more neutral sound from a driver designed to give what it gets and not colour the sound. You want honesty? You got it!
Jade 1 is a 3-way design and like other speakers in the range, feature exceptional crossovers to ensure all drivers integrate seamlessly. Advanced measurement techniques, computer modelling systems and extensive listening tests have led to a crossover that is perfectly phase linear. The result? A natural, cohesive sound that acts as a window into the musical performance. Overall, the speakers disappear, enabling the listener to concentrate on the music and only the music.
Development of Jade was led by multi-award-winning speaker designer Peter Comeau, who comments “The goal is to allow the listener to become involved in the musical performance by immersion in the full emotion and passion engendered by the original musicians. We call this the Wharfedale Experience.”
You can use Jade 1 on a desktop or other strong surface (although ideally not actually on a bookshelf!) but ideally we always recommend using these speakers with a good pair of speaker stands - at a minimum Atacama Nexus 6 stands, filled with Atacama Atabites.
23 Nov 2016Really pleased to have upgraded by adding these speakers, beautifully built, and very pleasing to the ear. They sound fantastic with the Cyrus One, and for me they look great in the decor.
4 Sep 2016Really pleased with these speakers which sound fantastic with my Cambridge Audio amplifier and very well put together in this cherry finish. Best deal I could find online. Thanks for quick delivery too. John.
