Product Description

TEAC HA-P5 Portable Headphone Amplifier with on board USB DAC was designed and manufactured from the ground-up with a focus on compactness and comfort, at TEAC's own factory in Tokyo.

It weighs only 182g which is the lightest among TEAC’s portable headphone amplifiers. The fundamental circuit design is based on the highly reputed TEAC Reference 501 series. 

Burr-Brown PCM1795

Burr Brown’s premium PCM1795 DAC conveys the full potential of the Hi-Res digital content, as distinct planned push-pull circuit carries superior audio signal from a 1/8" headphone jack. The DAC rests in the core of the digital portion to handle the masses of computations per second that Hi-Res audio data necessitates.

Dual Master Clocks

Master clock is a further crucial participant in digital dispensation. HA-P5 services dual ultra-precise crystal master clocks for 44.1kH and 48kHz structures, to be coordinated with sampling frequency of the inbound digital acoustics exactly, ensuring an exact Digital-to-Analog conversion is managed. Asynchronous transfer method is also facilitated to stop less-precise clock signal (jitter-noise) carried over from a PC or smartphone, that disrupts the digital audio.

Multi-platform design

USB A and Micro B type inputs are accommodated for straight connection to iOS devices eliminating the need for extra cables such as Apple’s Lightening USB Camera Adapter. This allows DSD 5.6MHz and PCM 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res Audio input. They also allow connections with Android device, and Windows/Macintosh computers as well, at DSD 5.6MHz and PCM 24-bit/192kHz. Software for playing Hi-Res Audio is supplied at no extra cost.

Push-Pull Circuit

An A/B grade headphone amplifier is discretely composed with Push-pull mechanism and high fidelity Op-amps. Skills garnered through the creation of the world's reference HA-501 headphone amplifier are packed into this model and impressively, the noise-lowered and crystal-clear circuitry produces 10 to 100,000 Hertz of frequency response as well as a Signal-to-Noise ratio of 110dB meaning the HA-P5 coveys intricacies of the master tape class carried by Hi-Res format and the ambiance as they were first played.

Digital/Analog Inputs

On top of the USB digital input, HA-P5 offers coaxial and optical audio inputs and the standard analogue line in, which are vital for travel-friendly headphone amplifiers. The coaxial and optical inputs handling 24-bit/192kHz allows you to link with a Hi-Res Audio player to assess variances of the sound produced by various D/A converter chip.

Volume Knob Design

The volume knob is impeccably designed and shaped to avoid unwanted operations in your pocket or bag. The embowed arc of the dial securely fits to your finger as you go allowing touch control.

Status gauges displaying the sampling frequency of the received audio and battery level indicator are smartly positioned on the anterior. Using these, you can confirm the signal type that is being played back instantly. Battery life is shown in 5 steps with the blue LED surrounding the volume control flashing to warn when it is low.

Universal USB charging

HA-P5 features a complete aluminium body for it lightweight, sturdy and noise shielding properties. An inbuilt Li-ion rechargeable battery enables 5 hours of action (digital connection) and is suited for de-fact normal USB AC connecters that source 1.0A or more DC power.

HQ Print Circuit Boards

Premium audio mechanisms and refined circuitry is meaningless if not firmly fixed on a high-grade circuit board.  

A dense-membrane copper layer with level breadth is used for reducing impedance of the whole circuits, and its flatness works to balance current level on both power and ground lines. Soldering is wrought in the bonding pool filled with nitrogen that eradicates rust during the process,and enhances dependability of the soldering. The material is also carefully chosen for better sound quality by boosting current stream.
