For nearly five decades the team of highly qualified engineers at Townshend Audio have been working towards building the perfect hi-fi system. Their quest is to find the best solution for every problem in the audio replay chain and build the ideal high fidelity music reproduction system is guided by common sense and sound engineering practice.
To create this system they had to re-visit almost every component, from source to speaker. Along the way they encountered many unproductive dead-ends and established that there was no single technology or silver bullet that could transform an ordinary hi-fi into an excellent one. By taking a rigorous approach to the design of every component in the system the result is an exceptional music system. It has been highly praised as the best system ever heard by many discerning listeners and respected critics, including a number of professional soloists and orchestral players.
Along the path of discovery Townshend have developed a number of components and techniques that are indispensable in the system and which have been shown to enhance other high-end audio systems.

In addition to this website and your option to call or e-mail for advice, we also have dedicated demonstration facilities in Birmingham where you can listen to a wide range of hi-fi speakers along with matching equipment. We also allow you to bring your own equipment in to make sure the speakers you're listening to are a good match.
Its all about the music for us and whether you're spending £50 or £5000, we'll help you find a pair of speakers that sound fantastic. So in addition to passive hi-fi speakers, we also offer a large range of active speakers, wireless speakers and 2.1 speaker systems, all of which have been cherry picked as they sound fantastic as a good value alternative to a full hi-fi separates system.
If it’s a home cinema you’re after, as well as 5.1 AV speaker packages, we also offer centre speakers, subwoofers and satellite speakers individually, so we can help you build a home cinema to your specifications. Many of our customers for example wish to put some of the speakers in the ceiling or on the wall and have others out in the room, and we can help with that too.
If space is an issue, our speakers range also includes a range of soundbars, which still giving you a taste of real home cinema surround sound, without the number of speakers and cables necessary for a full 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system and many of these models now also feature Bluetooth connectivity to play music from your phone or portable player, and this section also includes soundbases, which are designed to sit underneath rather than in front of your screen.
If you're looking to get a conservatory, pool or outdoor area set-up, we also offer a range of outdoor speakers and our custom install speaker range includes weatherproof and splashproof speakers suitable for such applications.
