Product Description

Roksan Blak integrated amplifier (available on 0% finance with generous part exchanges available on your old hi-fi) was revealed at the 2016 Bristol Hi-Fi Show and is the latest embodiment of Roksan’s continuing work in merging premium sound quality with stunning aesthetics. Its Roksan's new flagship amplifier and excels above the already award winning and class leading Caspian range.

Amplifier Section

The amplifier section of blak is an all-new design offering a powerful 140 Watts per channel into 8Ω. The amp offers MM phono and Bluetooth aptX along with a built-in USB Type B DAC for connecting a computer. Both XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced inputs are supported. Additionally blak has a built in headphone amp and a system remote.

Performance

Drawing on the sense of air and space created with the K3 series, results are pushed up another notch for smooth, powerful yet highly transparent sound suitable for a broad range of recording styles and genres. The bass is quick, deep and exceptionally tight combined with an ultra-spacious and detailed midrange and treble. Hand-selected audiophile components are featured throughout the circuit as well as top quality transformers to ensure the best possible sound quality and current power available.

Front Panel

The front panel is designed to be simple and minimal while offering great control of the unit. The volume knob combined with the new digital display gives a sleek and elegant appearance. The remote control offers you the most flexibility with direct input buttons for your amp, DAC or Bluetooth etc. You can also use the remote to shuffle and mute or adjust the display.

Connections

Inputs include phono MM input, followed by three analogue RCA inputs and an XLR input. Speaker connections line either side and lastly there is the USB Type B input for connecting to PC/Mac. The headphone connector appears on the front with a power switch on the bottom. There is a completely separate dedicated amp for the headphones which powers off everything else when switched on in order to isolate the headphone amp.

DAC Platform

The advanced DAC supports PCM sample rates up to 192 kHz and also DSD formats for both DSD64/128. This can only be used when a computer is connected to the USB port.

Press Reviews

  • 'Best stereo amplifier £2500+' (What Hi-Fi Awards 2017)

  • 'It takes a few days of running before the Blak really comes on song, but even from the first few minutes of listening the signs are good. Our initial impression of an enthusiastic, big-boned presentation remains unchanged throughout the test.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine August 2017)

  • 'There’s a lovely sense of ease, even when the music becomes demanding and volume levels rise. That impressive claimed power output rings true. The music’s wide-ranging dynamics are delivered with plenty of drive. There’s little sense of the amplifier holding back as crescendos come through with tangible impact. The Roksan stays composed throughout.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine August 2017)

  • 'This amplifier renders a lovely soundstage, painting instruments with a steady brush and positioning them with skill on an expansive canvas. It’s a stable presentation, the instruments staying locked in place even as complexity rises... We try out the moving magnet phonostage and are pleased with what we hear. It’s a lively sounding circuit, reflecting the insight and transparency delivered through the line inputs. The important thing is the amplifier is open to a wide range of sources and connects swiftly.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine August 2017)

  • 'The Blak amplifier is superbly judged. It has a powerful and energetic sound, with enough in the way of insight, subtlety and refinement to keep us happy. It’s also well equipped, and capable of sounding right at home in a wide range of system. Recommended? You bet.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine August 2017)

  • '...a superbly rounded product that’s well made, sensibly featured and capable of very fine sound.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine August 2017)
