The Quad 9AS Active Speakers are based on the mini-monitor concept of the Quad L speaker and ideal for discerning audiophiles.
It produces premium quality audio from digital sources and equipment, featuring an internal DAC, the Quad 9AS will turn any digital input into a quality hi-fi source.
The Quad 9AS feature an inbuilt amplifier in each unit, limiting the need for an external power amplifier. The 9AS speakers include an internal DAC able to support 24bit/192kHz audio.
Both speakers feature a 100W Class AB power amplifier, while one of the two speakers acts as master and accepts inputs. A subwoofer output allows for the addition of a separate subwoofer to create a 2.1 system.
The Quad 9AS speakers feature a 10cm woven kevlar mid/bass driver as well as an innovative 2.5m fabric dome tweeter featuring an associated waveguide front plate.
Thanks to Quad's three-position bass EQ function, which equalises low-frequency response, positioning the 9AS speakers is a breeze and not subject to typical limitations. They can be placed in a variety of places and conditions - including close to a wall, and will still offer the dynamic and rich audio Quad is renowned for
An ultra high performance DAC, as found on Quad’s Elite CD players, resolves digital inputs with up to 24 bit/192kHz accuracy. USB, Coaxial and Optical digital inputs allow a variety of ways to connect and switch between your digital sources.
The 9AS thus becomes a full preamplifier and power amplifier plus loudspeaker combination that can be driven from multiple digital and analogue inputs. There is even a 3.5mm jack socket on the side for quick connection of the headphone output of an iPod or Smartphone. All this controlled by the master speaker, the slave is controlled by a 12V trigger.
The Quad 9AS include a suite of inputs, meaning you can connect an entire range of devices and sources. Asynchronous USB and optical/coaxial S/PDIF connections allow 24bit/192khZ digital audio connections, while RCA inputs allow for the connection of analogue sources. The 9AS also include a 3.5mm minijack connection to allow for the connection of smartphones and other portable devices.
