Product Description

The ProAc Tablette 10 is a completely new design from ProAc and joins the highly successful Tablette Anniversary in the Tablette range.

Tenth Generation

It is the 10th version of the Tablette since its inception in 1979 and feaures a thin wall heavily damped infinite baffle enclosure as utilised in the classic BBC LS3/5A.

Cutting Edge

This design allows the Tablette 10 to be positioned against the wall, unlike a ported enclosure (not recommended). The new Tablette 10 has cutting edge new drive units, the bass driver has a Paginna Mika cone which is reed leaves mixed with Mika and coated with an acoustic dope.

Crossover

The crossover has been specially designed for a sealed enclosure with a network which shapes the response to give a rich bass and an extremely transparent midrange.

Silk Dome Tweeter

The tweeter is our well known 1 inch silk dome used in many of ProAc's other models. During the design several speakers were used as comparison those being the LS3/5a, ProAc D2, Spender BC1 and Quad Esl 57.

High Quality Finish

Tablette 10 is available in 5 standard wood finishes; Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Maple and Silk White along with two premium finishes; Rosewood, Ebony. This choice of finishes ensures that you not only get high-quality sound but also a visually appealing wood design that will fit in well with your personal home decor.

Writing this at the point of putting around 50-60 hours through the Tablette's across a range of genres and varying between low and mid-volume, in a fairly small home office/listening room. To me they sound like they are breaking in nicely, but not all the way there yet (probably because they havent had a huge amount of higher volume playing). At a pure guess, from how much they've opened up so far, about 100 hours at my listening volume will probably have them 95% broken in.

Needed speakers which could take up a small amount of actual bookshelf space and behave nicely without much open space around them... and the ProAcs do exactly that. They're an accurate and detailed speaker; with a very well delivered mid-range and very natural but well extended high-end. They present vocals beautifully, as well as guitars, piano, strings and drum kits.

The bass presentation is very accurate to the mix of what you're listening to: put on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and you're not going to have these speakers rattling the windows - but try something like Nero's Welcome Reality or Kavinsky's Outrun and you won't be disappointed. I'd say the amount of bass is still towards the lighter side in general but not lacking. However, by not exaggerating the bass, what you get is incredibly fast response and timing. Listening to quite technical music with fast guitar runs and drum fills, you hear every note perfectly.

Unsurprisingly as a LS3/5a-flavoured near-field monitor, the Tablette's benefit from being a bit closer to the listener and might struggle to fill a large room. Because they lean towards accuracy and timing, they handle almost all genres of music incredibly well. With electronic music they pick up detail and timing perfectly, but if you're a bass-head (i'm not, personally) you might find yourself wanting to add a sub or leaning towards something like the B&W 606.

In short: they're a small but extremely capable and versatile speaker, which deliver an excellent sense of timing and detail, without becoming harsh or fatiguing. They definitely benefit from some break-in time to smooth the high end and open up the lower mids. They manage to pull off the rare trick of presenting fine detail very well, but without losing musicality. Highly recommend giving them an audition.

The First time I auditioned the Tablet 10's, I became a believer. I was a first timer in ever experiencing the Tablettes, or for that matter any ProAc speaker. I am a new owner, and now a lifetime member. I am still amazed at the sound emitted from these diminutive boxes, and they have not experienced full break in period yet. They are perfect or my small studio apartment,(approx. 45m2) as they don't need don't be "out" in my living space to receive their full sound capabilities, just about against the wall suits them well. I listen to classical, Opera new wave, and classic rock (including the British Invasion classics). All genre sound superb and the enjoyment continues to increase, never fatiguing nor harsh. If you are looking for a smaller bookshelf, do yourself a favor and give these a listen, you would save a lot of time in your search...Love the Tablette 10's!
    Best Wishes!
