Product Description

Pro-Ject RPM1 Carbon Turntable picks up where the Pro-Ject Genie 3 left off and continues the lineage of high-quality turntables from Pro-Ject.

Better Materials

The brand new tonearm is a carbon fibre/aluminium resin construct, made using special heat and pressure treatments. The carbon touch sets the Pro-Ject RPM1 apart from the Pro-Ject Genie, and demonstrates the model range maturing over time. The result of this new design is a tonearm that is more solid and anti-resonant than ever before at this price, whilst minimising weight. The arm is finished with a pre-fitted Ortofon 2m Red Cartridge and a new magnetic anti-skate mechanism. The improved counterweight also utilises TPE damping in the form of an anti-resonant ring around the fixing point.

Smoother Bearing

The completely decoupled motor is based upon the same design as the Xpression Carbon, powered by an AC generator that's connected to the new DC power supply. The inverted main bearing now utilises a ceramic ball, offering a more fluid and consistent platter rotation than ever before.

We were mighty fond of the original Pro-Ject Genie 3, but with the updated design and the carbon fibre features, it's easy to fall for the Pro-Ject RPM1 Carbon.

Press Reviews

  • 'High frequencies are incisive and articulate while bass is nicely taut and delivered with a decent amount of power.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine July 2015)
  • 'Set-up is easy. The cartridge is already fitted and aligned, leaving just the counterweight and bias to be adjusted. Make sure you place the turntable somewhere level and rigid, ideally as far away from the speakers as possible.' (What Hi-Fi Magazine July 2015)
  • 'Vocal growls in the recording are perfectly projected in front of the soundstage, demonstrating the genuine three-dimensionality of the performance that is so well rendered by the Pro-Ject and has many of the characteristics of the company's more expensive turntable packages, which is quite an achievement.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
  • 'The distinctive and minimalistic design of the Pro-Ject RPM 1 Carbon is available in striking red, white and black high gloss finishes. It will certainly add an air of modern elegance to any hi-fi setup and has a real feel of quality about it.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
  • 'LIKE: Excellent build quality and superb tonearm/cartridge combination
WE SAY: A modern and elegant design resulting in a superb-sounding turntable.' (Hi-Fi Choice Magazine June 2015)
