Developed in 2008, the Ortofon Mc Windfeld cartridge features a state-of-the-art design and is the world’s most hi-tech analogue cartridge. The cartridge is a tribute to Ortofon’s departed engineer Per Windfeld, who was head of development for over 30 years moulding high-end culture with cartridges such as the Ortofon MC 20 Super, Concorde, MC Rohmann, MC Jubilee, Kontrapunkt etc.
Designed by a team headed by successor, Leif Johannsen, Ortofon's Chief Officer of Acoustics and Technology, the cartridge bears Mr. Windfeld's initials ‘PW’ inscribed in gold on the cartridge's side.
The Ortofon Windfeld preserves many of the company’s earlier design innovations, including Wide Range Damping (WRD) system and the ultra-fine polished version of the low mass Replicant 100 diamond. The cartridge holds the capability to extract acoustic material from the grooves with a higher degree of precision than any other needle type and has a sturdy neodymium magnet system with a Field Stabilizing Element (FSE) placed within the magnet structure.
The MC Windfeld can ideally be combined with the Ortofon TA-110 and TA-210 tonearms and the ST-80 SE MC transformer.
