Product Description

OPPO PM-1 planar magnetic headphones are some of the finest we've ever heard, delivering a natural, dynamic and engaging life-like sound which is partnered with extreme wearing comfort and impeccable design and build quality.
PM-1 is the result of extensive research directed by a team made of avid audio and acoustic engineers, organic and resources researchers, and audiophiles. Numerous hi-tech advances have been accumulated into the PM-1, counting the exclusive 7-layer diaphragm, double-sided curved coils, and an FEM enhanced magnet system.

Planar Magnetic Technology

Planar magnetic drivers distinguish the PM-1s from most headphones. Audio is produced by an ultra thin and light diaphragm where the whole exterior area is regularly driven. The diaphragm is motivated in a symmetric pull-push manner, and the magnetic arrangement and electrode shapes are enhanced for all-out sensitivity and uniformity. The diaphragm can yield very steady and direct piston-like ambiences, guaranteeing phase consistency and high-resolution presentation with minimal alteration.

The use of a double-sided diaphragm makes way for double the amount of conductors within the magnetic field and removes passive return regions where conductors fail. The consequences is 100% of conductor span which forms greater competence. Flat conductor rejects intermodulation distortion caused by inductance, typical of  dynamic headphones, and the PM-1’s impedance means sound class is uncompromised by an amplifier’s output.

The OPPO PM-1 pair high sensitivity with light weight, permitting it to be employed liberally with transportable devices without extra amplification. Its circumaural, open back strategy delivers the finest in sound quality and luxury, and the total rugged structure ensures the phones can endure ecological pressure.

These parts of the PM-1’s design merge to afford crystal clear, exceedingly dynamic sound that displays proportionate tonal assets with very slight alteration, resulting in a heeding practise that is both free of fatigue and capable of communicating every nuance of your favourite music.

Phase Coherence

When sound enters our ear, it has a planar wavefront with all spectrum components in phase. A typical dynamic driver disrupts this with its phase irregularity, resulting in less than perfect signal peak reconstructions. The planar driver has grander phase coherency since each part pulsates in unison without disintegration and delayed resonance.

Purely Resistive Impedance

OPPO’s planar magnetic driver has an even conductor outline that forgoes inductive components. This removes inductance associated intermodulation distortion, which is particularly common in dynamic drivers with great impedance and a large number of voice coil turns.

Stability, Consistency, Reliability

Many planar magnetic headphones have large balance deviations between the left and right channels, and accurate stereo reproduction is dependent on a very tight match between the two channels. During the manufacturing stage, drivers are faithfully matched to guarantee top hi-fi imaging and soundstage.

OPPO’s planar magnetic diaphragm has 7 layers of reedy constituents that offer brilliant routine, dependability, and durability. The creation of it certifies that it is steady under thermal strain and vibration.

Double-Sided Spiraling Coils

The diaphragm exploits a spiralling form of plane aluminum conductors flanking the driver. The double-sided design permits twice as many conductors to be positioned inside the magnetic field, which results in advanced sensitivity, improved damping, and level drive force.

FEM-Optimized Magnet System

An FEM-optimised magnet system with extremely large vigour Neodymium magnets is used to take full advantage of sensitivity and steadiness of the pragmatic force over the driver section.

High Sensitivity

Several planar magnetic headphones have a sensitivity far under 100dB and need very authoritative amplifiers to drive. The Oppo PM-1, on the other hand, is rated at 102dB sensitivity, which allows it match well with both mobile devices and gage upwards when paired with premium headphone amplifiers.

Build Quality

OPPO PM-1 is ruggedly built with a focus on longevity and supreme steadiness from part to part. The headphones have been strained to the top standards to endure motorised and ecological pressure in order to pledge excellent presentation throughout its lifetime.

A majority of planar magnetic headphones weigh above 500g and are frequently seen as being uncomfortable. However, the PM-1 has a weight of 395g and achieves a subtle stability between bulk, cosiness, and stylish industrial design.

Luxury Materials

The ear pads are the ultimate quality natural latex; greater and more durable to any chemically articulated foam. It is inherently hypoallergenic, holds its spring-like assets for lengthier stages, and battles moisture accumulation from perspiration. Made from hand-picked lambskin, the headband and earpads emanate a deluxe look and feel.

Replaceable Components

The PM-1’s earpads are set on rubber enclosures and can be straightforwardly cleaned or swapped. This makes switching between leather and velour earpads nearly effortless. You are able to detach and swap the headphone cable, it has 2.5mm mono mini jacks to attach to the earcups simplifying the process of switching between the lengthier 6.35mm cable for personal home use and a shorter 3.5mm version for taking with you on the go.

Premium Accessories

The terminated 6.35mm cable utilises OCC in the build and is layered in a dark fabric sleeve. A supplied carrying case made of denim is useful for carrying and guarding the headphones and the set of replacement velour pads offer a slightly altered sound signature.

Although they are not specifically designed to be portable headphones, the PM-1s are foldable so if you are looking to carry them from place to place, they’re easier to pack in your luggage than many other high end headphones models and the intuitive design makes them easier to transport.

Press Reviews

  • 'Smooth, refined presentation...Plenty of detail...Massive scale...Excellent bass...Gorgeous build quality...Oppo’s first pair of headphones are a luxurious, resounding success' (What Hi-Fi? magazine)

  • 'The PM-1s are a lovely listen. Their demeanour is so smooth and welcoming that we listen for hours, and it’s not a tiring experience...what strikes you immediately is the sense of scale. It’s huge. It’s spacious and airy. Music doesn’t sound like it’s stuck between your ears, but rather floating around your head with a satisfying and impressive dimension...there is also an extraordinary level of detail. Layers upon layers are revealed, and we hear new things we’d never noticed on some of our most beaten tracks. Instruments are not only easily identified, but also wholly convincing' (What Hi-Fi? magazine)

  • '...they can pack one hell of a punch. It’s a substantial, meaty sound...leading edges of notes are firm, and there’s plenty of power to follow through. Dynamics are strong and far-reaching, and taut timing also helps...tonally, the sound is nicely balanced. The treble is sweet and sparkly, and the midrange is full-bodied...the low end is particularly impressive: it’s properly deep and weighty, but tight and agile enough to support the rest of the frequency range. It’s rare to get bass this good on a pair of headphones' (What Hi-Fi? magazine)

  • 'They are gorgeous headphones, lavish, with attention to detail. You expect something shiny for £1100, but these really are special...Elsewhere, the body is mostly made of aluminium. Build quality is exemplary. Oppo was keen to emphasise its intense quality control process' (What Hi-Fi? magazine)
